Good habits to teach your kids

Becoming good parents isn't easy these days. It is more of a challenge for parents to make their kids see sense. It's that age when children just hardly understand the importance of a few things which their parents try to explain them. Brushing your teeth before going to bed, arranging your cupboard, arranging your school bag, keeping your clothes and daily essential items properly arranged in one place... the list is just endless. I have mentioned 3-4 things here in this list. But actually as I said, the list is really endless and there are so many things parents need their kids to do. Which good habits have you taught your children? Or which habits are you teaching your kids and they have started following the same? Can you mention some of them?

Scientific temper, ask questions and avoid people who are stuck in their own beliefs! These things are now really needed in India!

So truly said. But I wonder are people really stuck with their beliefs in India, or is it something that's everywhere? It can be called as a human tendency as well, isn't it? But it's really agree with you on your point of making children ask questions. This infuses the culture of learning new thing for kids.

@abhi_bangal It is everywhere but now in India, it is becoming toxic! So much toxic that people are loosing their morality, rationality and reasoning!

@anya12adwi Yeah, I was going to say that. People are the same everywhere. But I was a bit concerned because it's happening here in India. It's never good to hear such stories, especially if it involves our country... Yup. Morality, reasoning are all becoming part of the past. That's the biggest worrisome and unwanted development.

Good. Nice. Being a good human being is also equally important as our studies and career. A good person can create a good society and build a great county in the days to come.

@rakski That's true. Very correctly said. Basic values is what makes an individual a better and more beautiful person.

I taught my kids to do things that were good in this world. They had chores they had to do and they learned to care about all the members in our family.

I guess, you are teaching your children to be independent. And if I'm right, you are on a good path. Being good to your family induces the impression to be good for others too. That's really wonderful of you.

I hope that kids can be respectful with older people nowadays because they use to shout when they are nagging with an older people.

Yeah, sometimes it does happen. Small kids don't understand that if elderly people are talking they should either wait or respectfully interrupt. But then that's what we need to teach them - one of the values.

I don't have children but if I did, I would show them what happens if they don't do things. Would that be too much? There are educational cartoons, photos of people with rotten teeth, a video that explains what happened to a guy who kept his clothes on the floor (a venomous spider went inside a sock), and so on. I could even use AI to generate motivational pictures.

All-in-all, what you say is making use of technology to teach kids today. And as I was reading your reply, I thought to myself that I'd mention AI if I were in your place. And ultimately you reached there Yes, these days it's easier to teach through technology. As a matter of fact, teaching has become much easier then before. It can be used to show the flip side as well, as your mentioned about the spider. Cool reply!

@somewitch Tabs weren't even invented when we were students. Or may be we weren't aware that they existed. I mean to say, it was so primary and traditional when we were taught in school. It's definitely great to have technology to make our kids learn faster these days. But the flip side is that children are exposed to technology earlier and it can be misused for a number of reasons. Also, that increases the screen time as well. So, the fear of eye problems start at an early age.

@abhi_bangal Thanks! Yes, you nailed it. Children are given tablets at an early age but thankfully the technology can be put to good use.
