Yes, it's a day that doesn't mean too much anymore to a lot of people who don't have family around them. When my mother was alive, my sibs and inlaws would get together for turkey, usually on the Sunday instead of the designated Monday (I don't know why we need to standardise all holidays to Monday... what good is a long weekend when you don't work?)
So, now that Mom's gone, we don't get together any more. My one cousin in Toronto (an only child) would invited me for Thankgiving and Christmas when I lived in Hamilton but both she and her husband are smokers and I'd come home stinking of it. Add to that, the long bus ride into TO, then the long subway ride up to her neighborhood... after a few years I stopped going.
No, I didn't cook a turkey. If it wasn't raining yesterday I would have gone out to do a bit of shopping and maybe bought a "TV dinner" but when you're reduced to taking a bus that only gets you near where you want to go, and you can't carry an umbrella because you're pushing a walker, you stay home and stay dry.
So what did I have for my glorious feast?
Stovetop stuffing and canned turkey, with a side of canned corn.

I understand completely. It’s probably why I hate November and have to “double up” on my anxiety medication. There’s not much family left, and the ones I always gathered with are all gone. Plus, it was on Thanksgiving (our Thanksgiving) morning that my mom suffered the brain aneurysm. I’d just as soon go hibernate for November and December.

Me, too. It's too cold to venture out of my cave...

I hadn't thought to buy one myself because the Centre I attend had a turkey dinner lunch last Thursday, but the turkey wasn't very good. And it wasn't just me who thought so. Quite a few people didn't eat the turkey part of the dinner. It wasn't prepared by the Centre, but some church group volunteered it.

No thanks giving here. We have also threw out the Xmas Tree and all the decorations. But we kept the lantern just to keep the Xmas Spirit.

Our Thanksgiving is going to suck this year because I'm sure my husband won't be home. I will be alone again. I suppose I can get a Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving dinner because I will be alone. I'm sorry you had canned turkey. Have a good day.

@BarBaraPrz Yes. They offer a meal on Thanksgiving if you are alone.
