Turns out I way overpaid for Bounty

I was low on Bounty paper towels. Looked online and found a 12-roll pack of family size Bounty—which is what I usually get—at $2 off on Amazon. It was $33.49 instead of $35.49. And that’s not counting tax. I couldn’t seem to find it cheaper anywhere else I checked online, except for Costco, which had it at $24.99 after discounts. But it was out of stock there. And my supermarket circulars didn’t show it being on sale. Decided to just get it on Amazon. It felt good to save $2, except it turns out I way overpaid. A week later, my mom told me she needed Bounty as she was low on it too. I started looking for it for her and found out that Bounty (12-roll pack) was on sale at my local supermarket. It was selling for $27.99 and there was also a $3 off digital coupon. Total was $24.99 plus tax (same as at Costco). I had hubby go to the store and get it for her. Paying $24.99 (plus tax) is way cheaper than paying $33.49 (plus tax). That’s over $8 difference in price. I’m not happy about this at all. If only I had waited a week…

I always buy Great Value paper towels at Walmart. Much cheaper and guess what, Proctor & Gamble is the company contracted to make them for Walmart, the same company that makes Bounty.

@lovebuglena Very from what I can tell. But of course, your opinion may be different. I have never had them fall apart, if that's what you mean.

Due to my tight budget I have stopped buying brand names and I enjoy the Great Value brand at Walmart very much,

Buying only particular brands makes it harder to save.

I don't buy paper towels. All those extras really add up. I don't buy a bunch of stuff like fabric softener and such either.

When my kids were young I never used paper towels. Instead I used also hand towels. If you run out again you could use old towels, assuming your have some, just in case. I don't check other places for deals. I mostly ago at the store where I worked although I will get a few things at Kroger once I'm a while as it's two blocks away. Now I do but paper towels but never the big package and never the name brand. If your have dollar stores in your area you should check their prices too.

I only buy Bounty and Quilted Northern toilet paper so not as much options in terms of saving money. But I definitely should look for deals even if I’m in full supply. Better to pay less now than more later.

I thought that sounded really high. Can you get deliveries from Walmart? I know they are cheaper than that. Have a good week.

I can order from walmart.com if I create an account there. I usually buy 12-roll packs. Bounty has different sizes of rolls. I get Family size rolls on Amazon. Walmart doesn't have that. It has Triple size and that sells now for $33.18, which i not cheap but it's bigger size rolls than I get on Amazon. They do have Doubles roll for $22.18. But I think this one is smaller size than the ones I get on Amazon. I guess what you really have to do is figure out how many sheets you are actually getting in each size roll and multiply by twelve and then see what's the better option. Or maybe you have to look at the price per 100 sheets. What I usually do is figure out price per roll.

You did your best you could at the time. I’m sorry you missed out on the savings though.

It’s upsetting. But then again, I had no way of knowing my store would have a sale on it. Otherwise I would have waited.
