I Never Go Around Mirrors - Lefty Frizzell If you’ve ever heard Keith Whitley’s version of this song (which is more likely to be the case for younger people, given that he was more “recent” than Lefty) you might think that Lefty “sounds a lot like” Whitley. No, Keith sounded like Lefty. There’s a line in Moe Bandy’s “Yesterday Once More” that said, “There’s a lot of Leftys now with different names.” If you listen to Whitley, or Merle Haggard for that matter, you’ll hear traces of Lefty Frizzell.
