More Is Not Better

Younger self moved from a lovely flat in a lovely small country town to a big modern new house in town.
That was a big mistake.
My son was just a wee one then, and the small country town was much better for us to live there.
Hindsight.
Thinking over the many bad choices I made, wrong choices in life, I'd have to say that was the biggest second mistake I made.
Had you ever made some mistake moving somewhere you thought was going to be lovely?

I was miserable when I moved to Mississippi . All these years later I know it was a blessing. I met my husband the following year.

I thought I made the right decision when I moved to a small renting facility. I was wrong, I got robbed (remember I mentioned that in one of my posts here). For me it was one of the bad decisions I made.

I much prefer a small town compared to the hustle and bustle of city life.

I am sorry and can relate to going to better school when, in fact, i should have gone to a craft school and get some craft that would give me more experience than the books.if i couldn't control that,i wish i stayed studying in my home town on a local college.it would have been much cheaper but that felt embarassing for my environment, including me.i was too much in clouds thinking that big city means so many opportunities, which didn't turn out like that.yes, mistakes,my friend that we can't reverse

My moving choices for the most part have not been too bad. I just was too young to understand at first on some of them. Once I was married and hubby was out of the military we did very little moving. My big mistake was not working more when I was younger.

That never happened to me. I did move back into the house I used to live in with my parents before they bought their second home. I never thought that would happen. But I’m glad my parents never sold this house. I get to live in a spacious place instead of some small apartment with roaches. And we get to save on rent.

Well, I briefly lived in California and I'll say it's overrated.
All the movies portray it as awesome (and it is beautiful in some ways) but what they never mention is what I'd call the flip side of the California dream.
I could write articles upon articles on that topic.

I bet you could. Yes Cally is so beautiful in some areas. But there is the downsides in many ways, especially now.

My childhood was much better in Middle East. Then , it was decided we move to India for my higher education at that point of time. The decision had challenges as initial 2 years , I struggled literally at everything. Although, moving to India was good long term , moving there short term was disatratous. No proper planning was done by my parents in regards of the challenges that could be there. There are few other instances, but none greater than this for me. If good planning was there, the transition would have been much better.Well, we all made some choices and got to live with that.!

As far as moving goes, we've never lived outside the area we grew up in . . . we are still in the same Valley . This might sound crazy, but I think I liked apartment living rather than having a house. I had fantasies, I guess, of how life with house neighbors would be . . . it was/is disappointing to not have that.

No I like every place that I moved to. I moved from a four bedroom house to a two bedroom house and I love this house.

Our best move for the home was our place in the rural village that we lived for over 20 years, we loved it there.
We left there when we downsized and moved to this city to be closer to our son.
I do not like living in the city as much, but he and his family are here, and this city is a medical hub, which we need as we age. So although living in a city is less than quiet and has a fast pace, being near family is the silver lining.

It's the other way around for me, I miss the city life.
But things might have gotten worse where I used to live, so it could be a blessing in disguise.
I just feel kind of isolated here, I don't drive and relying on public transportation is so limiting: very few rides, not to mention the cost.
