I don't get hunting

I just don't. Like I'm great with hunting Burmese pythons in the Everglades but that is about it. This article talks about a NJ resident consistently trying to kill one particular black bear for the past 2 years. This one was likely 900 pounds intact but was 770 pounds "dressed" which means that the internal organs were removed so as not to spoil the meat. I am assuming that the hunter eats bear meat or sells it if he went through the process of clearing out the organs. So this bear is the biggest bear that he has hunted for years and who has evaded him. . . like why not respect that. Leave the animal alone. I feel the same way when I see 15 pound lobsters were caught. Put them back! They obviously have good genes. Ugh.

I briefly saw the headline on this news story, but didn't read the details. If he had avoided killing other bears just because he wanted this trophy bear, then I'd say he was hunting for sport more than anything else, and I do not approve of that. If he was hunting the bear for its meat, that might be another story, but trying for two years? That's a long time to go without food. lol My dad and I used to be avid deer hunters. But we did not hunt for sport. Venison is some wonderful meat and can be used in a variety of dishes. We would hunt for the meat. And when we'd kill a deer, we'd take it to a butcher to cut up and process all the meat for us. My parents had a large chest freezer out in our garage, and it was always packed with venison and other meats from when my dad and I went hunting. My mom had an almost endless supply of meats to use to make meals, and we were always eating good. In this case, the hunting was done for the right reason. But I am absolutely opposed to hunting as a sport or just for the fun of it.

I am 100% with you, respect the animals and leave them alone. I am against hunting. I am fine hunting Burmese pythons in the Everglades.

I don't like people hunting anything but invasive species like the pythons or iguanas. Have a good weekend.
