I felt I had something to do yet, living alone and retired, I do what I want when I want to do it.
Often, being retired, I don´t know what day it is if I don´t have any special thing to do. But I have Alexa. My Alexa is quite dumb because these machines are no better than their owners. And I´m technologically dumb.
I asked Alexa what day it was. It is Monday, October 21, she told me.
MY DAUGHTER´S BIRTHDAY!!!!
I´ll call Claudia later. In other years I have gone to see her, we would go to dine out or she would make a little party at her house. This year I don´t think that anything will happen. I haven´t seen Claudia much ever since the the fire in my kitchen over 1 year ago. She blames me but I don´t know much why. But I have accepted it. She will take me next week to vote.
But I still remember the sunny October morning when Claudia was born 58 years ago. I will think about her and will celebrate her life today. I even have some cake.

I spent many months waking up thinking what I could do. Until it dawned on me that I can´t do anything if she is not willing to do it. Once in a while she calls me as if nothing had happened but that is not the relation we had before.

Sometimes all you can do is call and wish happy birthday. If she wants to see you , she will Have to pur the effort in it

I hope your girl has a nice birthday, and that you are able to chat with her in a call later.
Birthdays are not just for the one having them. They are for us mothers, who remember so vividly the arrival of the child in their lives.

@MarieCoyle Today I thought all day about some of the birthdays I made for Claudia. I rememeber the time I made a cake that was a house. I was innocent enough to try to add a chimney. It was very hard to have it stay in the roof.

I always wonder about the mothers who put their children up for adoption, for whatever reason. I'm not speaking against them by any means, just feel sort of bad on all the birthdays they missed out on.

I just talked to her by phone. The has a demanding job (she is a judge), she is a single mother with 2 children under her roof and no maid. She doesn´t like maids so the most help she gets are those robots to clean the floor. Not much help
