The old man had recently lost his wife to cancer, and most days, he spent with a tear in his eyes now, as he missed her so very much. Then, at his local shopping centre, he was a bit careless crossing the road, and was mowed down by a large truck, and so he died instantly from this collision. He reached the doors of Heaven, and Saint John said to him, "We do not usually allow such careless people to come in here until they have learnt the value of care." We will send you to the bordering town of Heaven, where you will take lessons from the old man, who resides there, to learn about the value of self-caring. The old man went to the town, and took his lessons, and he was rather surprised to see his wife was taking the same lessons here still too. God had obviously known this, and so the two spent time together again, not caring if it was in Heaven, or not. Their own company was enough. "Be of love a little more careful than of anything." E. E. Cummings, (1894 to 1962) the great American poet, said this, and both in this couple knew this in their hearts. They had always been careful of their love for each other, never doing anything to ever jeopardise its strength. They had walked together in life, and now, they were walking together, after life too. I thought St. Peter was the doorman in Heaven.

@innertalks OK. That makes sense. Do you know where Pete went for his vacation?

@xander6464 Yes, he, and Jesus Christ, went down to Earth, to check on what was happening in the conflicts there. It was not much of a holiday, but at least, it was a bit varied from their normal life, in Heaven.

He usually is, but he was off on vacation, on that day, so St John filled in for him.

Love is the binding force that lasts here and, maybe, hereafter like in this story. We can take nothing from here; they have no value once we leave. So the quote "Be of love a little more careful than of anything." is befitting. We need constant reminders to get our priorities right.

Yes, the major problem with life here now, is people ignoring their responsibilities, and not getting priorities right. I had to wait one and one half hours, in my Doctor's office the other day, which hightlites incompetence by the office staff there, overbooking the doctors to try to make more money for the practice. Everyone is trying to squeeze everyone else for that little bit more these days. And love has been all, but squeezed all away by these profiteers, only driven by greed.

@innertalks Ego and greed have a vice grip on those who decide our fate. We are mere pawns in their hands.

@Shiva49 Yes, the pawn only very seldom can become a queen, when they are held in a vice grip, and if they do make it to power themselves, they are usually brainwashed then by the same power, to feed us more of the same diatribe, from their own now well-established ego, and greed, too.
