How do you feel about Autocorrect? is it helpful to you or is it a bit wicked? To me, it is not helpful. I know exactly what I want to say but it thinks it knows better. Here are two examples.
1. Oxford Languages states that "vagaries are unexpected and inexplicable changes in a situation." I had internet problems. I wrote an article about the vagaries of the internet. Autocorrect changed it to the 'vaginas of the internet."
2. The other day, someone on FB asked what is lacking in America today. My answers were decency, common sense, and compassion. My friend Autocorrect changed the first answer to exercise.
I could write a book about this. There are hundreds of examples.
What do you think? Are these changes programmed into Autocorrect to stick to a certain program or agenda? Is it just crazy? Why does it keep changing what I write into something laughable? Did it go rogue and start writing its own stuff?
What is your experience with Autocorrect?

Autocorrect drives me crazy too, I hate when I'm sending a text and don't realize that autocorrect corrected one of my words until after I've hit send.

Those were interesting examples.
I don't text or use my phone often, so my experience with autocorrect is limited. The worst is when the wrong language is selected, otherwise I usually get my point across with very few curses.

@somewitch I have a large vocabulary and know what I intend to say. But it comes along and changes what I write to suit itself. Maybe I should tell it to write me a best-selling novel and I'll send it in as my own. I will send it a manuscript and see how it changes everything.

@akalinus That would be a fun experiment. I've seen "challenges" that involve predictive text, it reminds me of that.

I don't care for Autocorrect. Your first example is hilarious. I'm glad you caught that one! Have a good day.

i deleted autocorrect from my phone and laptop keyboard and am strugling sometimes; have to check some words in english but i was getting really tired of autocorrect. also, it did harm to my writing in my mother tongue, croatian, it kept switching to english words. i had it enough in the end.

A bit frustrated specially when you are in a hurry and then you have to make a chat reply but you can't send it right away because you need to correct the autocorrect that makes my messages incorrect, lol!

I also had such crazy moments with autocorrect. Just a few minutes back , one of colleagues messaged me he is sick and wanted to leave . Though I intended to type "np" (no problem) , the autocorrect made it "no" .Luckily I spotted that after a minute and quickly responded "np". However, this is not as laughable as ones you have shared. I belive I had an embarrassing moment with autocrreoct but unable to recollect the word or the situation. I have ben careful and do check at times when I type long sentences. At the same time, I do not want to switch off autocorrect as it helps to easily type the message or autocorrect the spelling. Well, interesting share!
