Pre-employment testing. Is it okay to access it if you're not fully prepared?

Like, you knew the list of things they were asking for but they got in touch with you sooner and testing is in shorter time than you expected. There was no announcement on their official page, hm. So, the question is to show up even if you're not fully prepared, to take the chance or not to show up but you'll be in the archives of this company so, who knows, maybe they will call you one day? Or you will embarass yourself for life? What to do... Have you been in this situation, mylotters?

@grenery8 I don't know what to say.All this is so disappointing.I had never faced such a situation.I tried five times before being called for an interview.I appeared and cleared it.But actually I didn't like to serve any company.I wanted to have my own business.

i thought there would be a writing testing but i was called on the interview still, feels suspicious. This employer got in touch with me in september, when i sent an open application. then nothing, which made me disappointed and then, without any official announcement on their site, to tell when can i come. that was on monday and i told, thursday is okay for me just, i didn't expect, my friend, that there will be 5 laws and an oral interview so, not sure how this will turn out. thank you. i'm trying not to lose hope. i am also both scared and excited going to a different region. i also hope to be shown in a good, professional light.

this employer called me in september and giving me sort of false promises for me to work for a month. then, nothing and i found her suspicious yet, i wanted to go through official testing just, without any announcement about testing (i guess, in written form and on their page), she called me saying when can i come for an interview so, in that atmosphere i'm going to a different region and will be talking to a person not knowing their intentions. taking my chances with this employer one last time this year. thank you, it means a lot coming from you and have a good day too, without rain and negativity

@grenery8 Do you have to memorize all those pages or do you only need to know what the laws are and be familiar with all the information? It sounds daunting. Are these laws for the school, the dormitory, or what?

@akalinus it is a statue of the dorm/dormitory, law for education, some year plans, law about what to do when safety of students is in danger and one article about education. i was wrong, 4 laws and a scientifical article. that's the deal, i focused only on sections about the dorm; all other, i didn't

i haven't been in such situation, but i think it's okay to access it if you're not fully prepared. maybe you'll be lucky enough to know answers to the questions and what's the worst thing that can happen? it's not like the company's going to post results somewhere. failing tests you're not prepared for is not a big deal

@akalinus thank you for that advice and will certainly take my leave if something feels fishy but,i have to try. I am really out of ideas where to apply;i tried it all like, all. This is a headmistress of a students' dormitory, i am applying for an educator and i hope, like you,she is taking me under option 2,into a serious consideration. I am going tomorrow morning on a bus, into another region and will let you know the outcome.

@grenery8 yes, please let us know how things turn out. Would you teach a class? That's what educator means, right? How old are these students?

@akalinus educator in a students' dormitory don't teach, he is like a mentor to a children and involves the children in sport/cultural activities. makes sure that children know how to behave in a dorm, they have insight in their grades. basically, that.

I've never been in that situation but I believe it would be better to show up, if that means you'll still be in the archives if you happen to fail the test. If you show up, it shows you care. If you don't, they might just think you aren't serious and be less likely to call you again. At least that's what my father would say, he worked in HR. Then you might even pass the test and there would be nothing to worry about.

@somewitch you remembered correctly, thank you i also hope they hire me and more than a month. when the headmistress called me before, she mentioned i am out of town and asking me do i have a car. duh. i told not but i hope i have a train or bus; it turns out i would be late so, i hope she will manage it; this time when she called, did she foregt it or not but i mentioned that i use a public transportation. and, it is not my fault that there are no earlie buses. i hate when people focus on what you don't have it while you try hard to prove them wrong. at first, she even mentioned accomodation, then she declined it, changing her mind. i also really hope that summary will help me. if not, at least i would finally see the person who called me 2 times and maybe that would be the start of a wonderful friendship, like in casablanca movie if not, continuing with my applications though, i find it really tiring; due to weather or me just having it enough. you were inside the head of the employer, i like that and, being one step ahead of them alll in all, thank you for good wishes.

What do you mean by testing? Are you there for a job interview and technical test? If that's the case, I always have that, everytime I applied for work, they always have me for an interview and exam. After college, one day process of application is not yet implemented, one of my experiences: I had initial exam, I passed, next is initial interview, I passed, next is an afternoon exam, I passed, next is another interview, after that I need to wait for a call back. I had a call back for technical exam; In the morning we had to learn the system and in the afternoon was the technical exam... then I waited for the call back again for panel interview. I waited and had a call for final interview... then I waited and no one called me... it means I did not pass the panel interview, Lol! That's how the employment process here back in 2O22. There are also elimination process, so we will take the exam from morning until afternoon, and every set of exam there are candidates who were eliminated, I got to the end part but did not make it to the final interview. Its so hard.

One test I took was typing test for a temporary employment site. I did not type enough words per minute. It was an electric typewriter and I had never used one before. Anyway, they did hire me to type name labels at a convention. That paid well. When I got a job as a phone operator for Pacific Telephone, I took an easy test. It was like writing a list of phone numbers on the other side of a page, and I aced it.
