Everything is getting more expensive. I am not getting poorer. My financial situation is the best it has ever been. We can afford some luxuries by saving. I say saving but my husband and I have been very poor. We still live like poor people in some ways so that we can save. Of course, that amount is decreasing with the cost of everything increasing. We're lucky to be in the position we're in. There's no way we would manage if we didn't have some savings to dip into.

You definitely are very lucky that you were able to save in the past. Being an immigrant, I was not able to save anything due to responsibilities back home and now before I know, I am at the retirement age. I must say saving should be everybody's first priority!

@tiwari5485 it's only in recent years that we've had the luxury of saving. I agree it should be a priority if it'spossoble but, for many people, it isn't. I'd get very frustrated (and still do) with people offering budgeting advice to us when we had nothing to budget with!

@pumpkinjam so true that budgeting advice is NOT for us. I am a saver if I get a chance and I don't always eat out or live on coffee and I saw all the advice is about quitting coffee, eating out etc. and it pisses me off as well.
The saving issue is NOT because people don't want to, it's because everybody is UNDERPAID! I so want to scream at times. I don't even have a piece of real gold jewellry or any expensive clothing, Very simple life I have and with the life that I am living, if I can't save, our government needs to think hard.
I do have rescued cats and people have tried to give me advice that I should give them away. I always think to myself that how many parents will give away their child if they can't afford to raise them?

I hope that you still have enough for everyday living. I think that why not save money or food? I have the same feeling like yours.

Well, in a world where a single income stream may not be sufficient to sustain long term and where inflation is growing but source of income is not growing at same rate , we are bound to feel we are poorer and things are becoming dearer. We would have to increase our income stream or streams and move ahead. No wishful thinking can help us on same. We all face the same challenges in some degrees. Personally, I am also facing the same set of challenges and working on different solutions as solution template not same for everyone. Have a great day ahead and welcome back to mylot!

It's not just you. It's called inflation. Prices rise due to a number of factors, but wadges don't raise to meet it.
