Money Saving

When I was at UWI in Barbados it was far from 'civilisation'. It wasn't a matter of not having money, it was that we couldn't get to the supermarket easily. If there wasn't a fellow student to drive us, we had to the take a bus and then lug the stuff from the stop to the dorm. This meant we had to conserve. We used to use the toothpaste, rolling it up, then, unroll. We'd cut off the bottom, and dip our brushes in, moving from the top down. This gave us an extra week. We would cut our bar soap in half and put up half. When the one we used was small we'd leave it in the soap dish, use the other half, then when that was small, put them in some water and then squeeze them together. These are just two of the ways we made things and last and saved money.

with stuff in glass or even plastic containers, sometimes I pour in some coconut oil and pour out into another container.

A few years ago I made a sort of pocket with the end of an old piece of a PJ. I place all the rest of soap (always the same soap as I have to use a special one) and crush the wet fabric. It turns to a big enough soap after a while. Not elegant but I save a lot. And I don´t use an inch of toothpaste as King Charles does, but just 1/3 of an inch. It does the same job.

with soap I would put it in a little water and get liquid soap as well as squeeze it together. My dentist told me not to use more than a little toothpaste not the blob charles does

@jaylar I´d be very unhappy with so much foam if I cleaned my teeth like King Charles. Also, I woul not like another person to mess up with my tooth brush as he does.

@marguicha I usually rinse my mouth strongly before brushing. That amount of toothpaste is waaay too much and not useful

even now I still do it. You'd be surprised how much tooth paste is in the container

We usually cut our soap in half to save also. If we dont it will quickly melt.

I still do it... and often will let it sit in water so I get liquid soap to quickly wash my hands
