How do you prefer to get your medical results?

So I got my MRI results for my back texted to me today (no surprises, the damage is no better and just slightly worse) from the imaging center. They had previously texted my X-ray results to me a couple of days after that imaging too. I was wondering, do you like it when they text you your results? Or would you rather you wait until they see you before giving you the results? I appreciate that you can just highlight a word and it gives you a definition in case you’re uncertain of the meaning. I like not having to wait for the doctor. I have sent my results to my nurse friends before, and they crack me up. They’ll predict what the doctor is going to tell me before I see him (surgery, therapy, medication…). They’ve always been right too.

I detest the medical situation. Just detest it. Thank God I went in myself and picked up my ultrasound results. Two weeks after that test I finally got a mailing from my Primary via the post office. I feel adrift right now medically. Nobody is talking with me, discussing the emotional issues. I am glad you are not doing much worse.

If I hadn’t had my mom is my early twenties, I don’t know that I ever would have been diagnosed with the illnesses that put me on disability. Nobody wanted to run tests, and when someone did, nobody sent me any results. We had to go off insurance to get my first diagnosis. My mom was my advocate when I wasn’t able to be my own.
Because you put a hand out for help, and it just gets slapped. I don’t know what is going on with the medical professionals around you, but I am sorry they are failing you. You’re too important to be treated like this. Let me know if I can do anything to encourage you along in your journey.

@AmbiePam I'm glad that the cupping helps, I have heard some wonderful things about it.
My back is poorly also.
I have severe osteoporosis, but last winter they discovered fractures when doing a chest x-ray.
That meant that the calcium pills are no longer working and they need to test me further and put me on something to treat the osteo and not just take something preventative for it.
I have gotten a bit shorter as a result. It is really just starting to crumble from what the x-ray indicated.
But I try not to dwell on that, it makes me feel sad.

They have a portal for most of the doctors offices and hospitals now. Id rather it be that way or like you said sent to me. I don't want to waste extra time at appointments

We have an online portal called MyChart for medical stuff at our hospital where I live, and that's where I like getting my results if not directly from the Dr.

@jnrdutton Me too. This password came assigned to me, and they let you change it, but I just never took notice of what it was to begin with.

@AmbiePam always useful to know your passwords, I try to keep mine easily memorable.
It's been said the more complex the better, but not for me. Complex passwords annoy me immensely.

I wouldn't mind to have my results texted to me first either; I like reading about everything medical, especially if I'm personally involved.
Then it's great you have nurse friends whom to share the results with. I hope the doc will come up with an effective treatment.

I hate these tests. They are so time consuming. I hope you get well soon.
I also need those reports because I like to know if there is a serious bad news for me to start worrying...well increase the level of my worry. LOL
God has been kind, and spared me much of that, but my father has been through two MRIs, and some sonographys etc.

I was praying that your results would be much better. Is there anything the doctor has suggested doing?
I'm fine with my doctor emailing me to check my chart on line. It's private and I'd much rather get the results sooner than waiting for an in person visit.

@AmbiePam I'm sure glad to know this. You're just not a complainer, so I'm concerned about you.

Usually, if I have any results to learn about, they are told to me the same day in office. Otherwise, I almost always get a call the next day.

I don't usually get results unless I specifically ask to see them, but I haven't gotten bloodwork done at my regular doctor for quite awhile, but I get it as part of the studies I have been in.

We can sign into our online account and view all of our test results. They usually come in really quickly. I'm sorry your report wasn't better. Try and have a good day.

I like the medical results to be shared in WhatsApp with all possible images. I could check on the same and verify with a different doctor or get a second opinion , similar to how you reach out to your nurse friend to get a gist of things. If something can be done quickly , yes we can wait for the doctor to arrive and speak about the same. Most times, it is a tough thing waiting in the queue for the doctor. I recollect waiting for a doctor for almost 3 hours. You cannot do much over there and there are not much thing you can do in smartphones for over three hours. So , yes hospital visits in that way is always for most like me. Take care!
