Earlier this week my hubby's sister sent out a group text message to everyone.
She was telling everyone that one of the brothers was having bypass surgery. That part was true. She gave us next Wednesday as the day for his operation. That part wasn't right.
Both my hubs and I felt terrible and were very worried about his brother. he is a widower and will need to have private in-home nursing care at his home 24/7 for when he is discharged next week.
Today he received a text message that the surgery was today, and that he did well and was out of surgery.
We are both over the initial shock of him needing the surgery and thankful that he is in the CCU recovering now. This wrong news was actually not terrible news.

They will not let others in, only immediate family, his 3 daughters were there.
We will hold on and reach out to them by text in a couple of days to help support them.
The girls need to stay away from others so that they do not catch a germ and pass it on to Bob.
I feel so badly for him, he is a sweet sweet brother-in-law, and was always my hubby's favorite brother of the 3 that he has. He took my hubs under his wing when he was a teenager and their Dad passed away suddenly. He tried to be the best big brother that he could be, and he succeeded.

Yes, and such good timing.
Bob dislikes the cold weather, and today it turned cold out.
I am happy to realize that he is warm and cozy in the hospital surrounded by the medical staff to help him start to get up and move about over the next few days.

@LadyDuck I know, it tugs at my heartstrings because he was at Anne's side every moment during her hospitalizations over the years, but now he is alone as she has passed. It bothered me when my own Dad was in the hospital as my mother wasn't there as often as she should have been. I took time off from work to sit at his bedside during the days when doctors were in and out and he was having tests ran that nobody really explained to him.

@RebeccasFarm I hope so too, he is not overweight at all, is very mobile and always on the go, and eats a very healthy diet.

It is a big operation, and he is several hours from home.
I see that as a good thing because you cannot receive any visitors besides immediate family in the CCU.
Since he is a widower he will recuperate at home after discharge with homecare RN's coming in around the clock for 8 weeks at least.

@LindaOHio They will not even perform the surgery without proper aftercare lined up.

@Juliaacv I'm glad he will have homecare. This is the problem we are running into with my husband. He will really need someone there around the clock if and when he comes home again.

So you really did not have a lot of time to worry about him and the outcome.

Even though there was a miscommunication, it sounds like he did well with the surgery anyway. That is a good thing.

Yes, he did well.
It is not like his sisters to be so inaccurate, they were both nurses before retirement, but they are away on a cruise presently, and perhaps that contributed to them having their dates wrong.
I am just pleased that he survived it well, it saves me from a day of worrying next week, although he was on my mind all day yesterday and I could not account for it.
