Movie Musical TBR Jar

I watch a lot of BookTube videos on TBR (to be read) games. I thought of one but realized I could get copyright dinged if I went to all the trouble to create a game using pictures from the movies. Grease is one of my favourite movies with The Sound of Music being a close second. I used songs from these musicals to come up with book prompts which I am sharing here. I challenge you to do the same with songs from musicals or any album really. I tailored my prompt to my library & taste in books (I.e. no Sci-f, fantasy, historical to name a few). I have made slips of paper to make a prompt jar. Here’s what I came up with. The Sound of Music The Sound of Music - song or music in title I Have Confidence - Beauty on cover or title My Favourite Things - Favourite author Maria - Name in the title Climb Every Mountain - Mountains on the cover Sixteen Going On Seventeen - Young Adult So Long , Farewell - Family member in the title Something Good - About books, bookstores, or library Do-Re-Mi - Title or author beginning with D,R or M The Lonely Goatherd - Animal in title or on cover Edelweiss - Flowers or flower shop on cover/title Alleluia Chorus - Christian novel The Sound of Music (Requiem) - End or start a series Grease Grease Is The Word - One word title Love Is A Many Splendored Thing - Love in the title Summer Nights - Summer/Beach read Beauty School Dropout - Story in a school setting Alone At The Drive-in - Single person on the cover Sandy - Beach on the cover There Are Worse Things I Could Do - Cozy mystery Hopelessly Devoted To You - Romance novel We Go Together - Story about friends Hound Dog - Dog on the cover Born To Hand Jive - Holiday read Tears On My Pillow - Murder mystery Mooning - Moon on the cover Rock n Roll Party Queen - More than 2 people on the cover Those Magic Changes - Enemies to Lovers Rock n Roll is Here To Stay - Thriller Blue Moon - Blue cover It’s Raining on Prom Night - Weather on the cover Greased Lightening - Car on the cover You’re The One That I Want - Second chance romance Grease finale song - use number generator Freddy My Love - Sports Romance Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee - Biography, autobiography or memoir My first pick was Rock n Roll Party Queen - More than 2 people on the cover (considering the word "Party" as my main prompt). It was actually hard to find a book on my shelves that had MORE than 2 people. But "The Day The World Came to Town" has 4 people on the cover and that is what I chose. (Review is posted) My second pick was Climb Every Mountain - A book with mountains on the cover. I chose a cozy mystery called "Written in Stone" by a friend of mine, Diane Bator. There are mountains on the cover. (Review to come) My third choice was So Long Farewell with the prompt being Family Member in the title. That means mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, sister-in-law... You get the picture. I only found 3 at first but after choosing "My Lovely Wife" I found 3 more. So, I am currently reading My Lovely Wife. (Review to come). So far I am enjoying this even though I would much rather be able to choose what I want to read off my shelf, I am SO FAR enjoying this method (especially since they are tailored to my books).

I enjoy reading what I like myself and I often read and re-read series of books, Best of luck to you with the book prompts,

I never re-read books. There are so many books to read/choose from, especially in my house alone, I don't want to waste time on something I've already read.

@patgalca I don't look at rereading a book as wasting time. I look at it as visiting an old friend.

Hmmm. When you said "book prompt" I thought you were talking about writing a book, not reading. I just read what I feel like reading, or rereading, sometimes re-re-reading, and if I don't feel like reading anything, I'll do crosswords or play solitaire. Sometimes I'll even clean house or cook something.

I never re-read a book. I have over 500 books in my house right now that I haven't read yet. I am a mood reader as well but I thought I'd give this a try. I might choose my own read in between picking out of the prompt jar. Especially if I don't pick Freddy My Love soon.
