Midnight rambler

I couldn't sleep last night (restless legs) so I got up and made a pot of soup using the last of my beans, and tomatoes (still have some to use up) and a potato and some carrots from my garden. By the time I finished putting it together, the meds kickied in and I went to bed and off to sleep. And slept like the proverbial baby and didn't get up until 9:30am,
I heated it up today and added a can of Aylmer's cream of mushroom soup to it, which made it soooo good.
What do you do when you can't sleep?

Half a Benadryl? Do you have a pill spitter or do you just snap it by hand?

Usually I read to get sleepy and when I cannot sleep I read some more or I try to put all thoughts out of my mind,

Yeah, the thoughts are as bad as the restless legs for keeping me from sleeping.

Glad it turned out well for you. I research things online or watch YouTube.

Yeah, I used to go online too, but that just kept me from sleeping for a longer time.

Just watch random junk on youtube. And try to get comfortable. Sometimes reading fan fiction will do the trick.

Since I am a freelancer and I almost always have work available I do some of that. I can sit in bed nice and cosy, so if/when I do start to feel sleepy I can just snuggle down again.
That doesn't work in summer though when it gets light around 3 or 4 am. In that case I have to get up and do some gardening!

Three or four am? I guess you're much closer to the land of the midnight sun.

I usually take an aspirin or some melatonin, something to help me relax A weighted blanket would probably help with your restless legs.

I only take aspirin for hiccups (don't laugh). I don't know about this weighted blanket trend: I'd think I was being crushed or something.

@BarBaraPrz Hey whatever works...you get used to the weight very quickly. They come in different weights. Try one of the light ones. They seem to work for my nephew who is extremely antsy, and probably has restless leg as well.

I do that sometimes, too, but there's no door to shut. My "office" is one wing of the main room.

I do that sometimes, too, but I'd rather get my sleep.

@BarBaraPrz - If I read, after 10 to 15 minutes my sleep gets back. If I get up I will never arrive to sleep more.
