Do you think Trump really had American citizens tear gassed so he could pose in front of a church with a Bible in 2020?

For years I have heard about the meme of Trump having protesters gassed in Washington DC so he could walk to a church and do a photo op with a Bible in his hands. But I have never really researched it. I think I was too busy at that time trying to find work. The College had shut down and then gone all on-line, and my friend's preschool was shut down as well. I think it was June 2020. Trump was still president. I have even heard that Trump was holding the Bible upside down when he displayed it in his right hand. but I cannot confirm that. What do you think? Did Trump really do a photo op at a church (Libs have claimed that he rarely attends that church) while protesters were starting to disperse from a rally? Did he really allow some agent of the Government to tear gas American citizens? Did he really hold the Bible upside down? ['ll attach a NYT story I just read about it. But it's not a worm hole I really want to go down any further.

I just think it shows how loony the country is as a whole if nearly 50 percent of the population has watched him and heard through the liberal media, of his dark heart ways and yet still support him. I say liberal media, because obviously if they just reporting his heinous ways, they are not considered a trump ally. It is possible to be right wing and conservative, honorable and rationale, but even so, if they are right wing and honorable, that is liberal media to them. The country has disappointed me way more than Trump. I knew what he was about from the start. I did not think so many Americans believed in fascism and Nazi teachings.

@TheHorse Price are high for many reasons. We have a lot of smart rich people here. Its going to suck if you just a high school educated former Marine like me. That being said, its so easy to make it work for everyone if you give everyone something they are good at. That's how freedom works, you let people shine in their own way. Not every needs to go to college, not everyone needs to be a movie star, not everyone needs to be a athlete. You keep every door open so people can have something for everyone and you can pretty much dominate the universe.

Well said. I live in California. Prices are high because of population density on the Coast. We have blacks, whites, Filipinos, Indians, and "other" living here. But we all still seem to get along.

I remember seeing media coverage of that incident. While tear gassing was used, I don't think it was souly just to clear a path for Trump to do the photo op. I like to think there's more to the story. But the long and short of it, is it did happen.

@kaylachan Anna knows best. I think she is still alive, but has not been posting here. I miss her, even if she thought I was a boorish American and a pain in the neck.

You mean "solely," right? Maluse lives on in me! I don't think I'll go further down this worm hole. It all happened four years ago.

I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past him, and I don't want to sign up to the NYT to read the article.

@BarBaraPrz We have seen odd things happen in recent years. What would Abraham Lincoln say if he heard that a convicted felon and serial rapist would be running for president in 2024?

The second part of the question seems right. We really don't need any more looney stuff about him than we have He spouts enough nonsense.

@TheHorse .....I think that could be hard to find but it would be nice. How can anyone with half a clue really take him seriously without something intelligent to go by?

@celticeagle I did hear part of an interview yesterday in which he sounded fairly lucid. He did not say anything profound, but I was able to follow his sentence fragments.

It is so sad to watch. I wish we had more well-read ultra-Conservatives who would link us to intelligent things Trump has said recently.

Make a quick search, video and photographs clearly show that the Bible wasn’t upside down at Lafayette Square, BUT three posts on Twitter made the claim and amassed more than 83,000 retweets and more than 340,000 likes. Three months later, Mr. Biden repeated the false claim. People can be dumb and they love fake news.

@TheHorse The police used tear gas because people were protesting because of George Floyd affair, but the Bible was not upside down. I do not think that Trump is religious, but I also never go to Church.

Yeah. I didn't "go with" that part of the story because I couldn't tell. I do believe that he gassed people so he could walk through the crowd and do the photo op. And that he rarely attends that church.

@TheHorse He just wants to put on a show. He wouldn't know if it was upside down as he probably can't read

Are you sure? Who would disrespect a Bible in a photo shoot? And I am talking both morally AND from a PR standpoint.

I know the Arlington shenanigans were awful, so I’m not disqualifying anything. As for him being a Christian, last weekend Kamala was in church and he was talking about Arnold Palmer’s “personal body parts.” I won’t judge (unbiblical to do so), but an observation makes one’s eyebrows raise.
