Unbiased American radio!

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were discussing information available to people in more restricted countries – and I was surprised to hear that there is such a thing as ‘Radio Liberty’, a station created from the amalgamation of two different services set up decades ago by different American agencies to transmit news to the inhabitants of countries, such as the USSR, where state-controlled media only provided a one-sided view of events, if they provided any news at all.
I had to look it up and I found it here – Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty
They say ‘Uncensored News. On Every Platform”, and claim that RFE/RL provides uncensored, trusted news to audiences in 23 countries where a free press is under threat.
They specifically target countries in central Europe and the middle east and broadcast in 27 languages including Armenian, Belorussian, Kazakh, Persian, Tatar and Uzbek.
I was astounded, I had never heard of this. And it appears to mean that an American broadcaster provides unbiased coverage of events to millions of listeners. Just not, as far as I understand it (and from what I remember when I lived there) to their inhabitants at home.
Do you know of this radio service?

I learned about Radio Free Europe decades ago thanks to the band R.E.M.

@Fleura Not so! If you were a complete ignoramus you still wouldn't have heard of it.

@Fleura RFE was the first song on REM's first full-length album...which was the second song I heard mentioning radio overseas - Sammy Hagar's song VOA references the Voice of America radio station. If I wasn't such a big music freak I probably would not know of either.

Yes, it's been around a long time. It's a great service for those countries that don't get unbiased news. Have a good weekend.
