Dog!

Last week one of my pieces of mail had a hand written DOG! on it. I really do work at NOT allowing Rufus outside when the mail folks are near my property. I really do. Rufus my innocent dog- nearest the door in the photo- is a nasty boy when it comes to mail folks and delivery folks. He barks like the devil himself is right outside his house. He means it, too. I would be wary if I didn't know Rufus. I also have seen Rufus at his worst. So yes, I take him seriously.
Today hubby and I used a senior bus service to get us to Olympia- state capitol city. Just twenty minutes down the freeway. I could have driven us but it was so relaxing sitting and watching somebody else drive near large trucks. We ate lunch at a seafood restaurant then walked near a marina filled with lovely boats. We also walked to a nearby farmer's market. Four people played lively bluegrass music on the outside of the market. The weather was warm. Sweet day.
The other dog in the photo is Moxe. Sweet spirited dog. I took her to our friend's house for doggie day camp. She helped friend celebrate her birthday. Rufus is not social so he stayed home with the cats and hopefully napped.

Oh, it sounds like a wonderful day! Your dogs are so lucky that they have you in their lives. Not all pets are loved like that, as we know. I’m glad to hear you had such a nice time.

Thanks @MarieCoyle. We knew in our minds when we adopted Moxe that she was very soft when it came to being left alone for very long but to actually live with it- just something else. Luckily we found the lady who not only loves plants but also dogs. She has become Moxe's second Mom. We adopt, we don't just take in a yard ornament.

@MarieCoyle I admire your voting with your feet. Adopt don't shop.

I am a huge advocate for rescue dogs. I did rescue work for years, and my dogs were all rescues. I've driven a gazillion (feels like it, anyway!) miles to take dogs from point A to point B for rescue and adoption, I've fostered, I've cried when I couldn't save some of them...and I say that so often. Dogs are not yard ornaments. They are family. And if someone is going to try to slap it outside on a chain or keep it in a kennel 24/7 outside, they have no business having a dog at all, in my opinion...sounds harsh, but that's how I feel.
I am glad Moxe has a second Mom!

Yes @snowy22315 about Rufus. Next step is the carrier refusing to deliver mail at my house. Grrrrrr on me driving to the post office to pick up junk mail.

@kaylachan It mostly was super sweet. There was a sad moment when hubby got mad at me cause I walk faster than him. He has taken to shuffle walking.

I guess a hand written DOG is to remind the mail folk to be careful with your dog.Rufus is a conscientious dog !

Mine go off at the USPS drivers when they stop. But except for Patch border collie I know they would not do anything. Patch I am not sure about.
