Might Check Out Dollar General

It's that time of the year when I go back to crew socks from no show socks I generally wear in the summer, and it seems like it's getting close to time to replace some of the older, worn-out pairs.
The best socks I have had in a long time were some I'd gotten from Menard's a few years back that were on sale for a good price but are typically more expensive than most others.
But they sure did last, I can't deny that.
Normally I buy Fruit of the Loom at Walmart, which seem to be the best price. But over the years they've become thinner and thinner and wear out very fast.
Dollar General SOMETIMES has fairly good deals on socks, and so I might check them out and see if I can find some there for a good price that have a slightly better quality than Fruit of the Loom has been able to provide lately.

I think we have a Dollar General here but not near my house. What kinda prices are there? Not everything is a dollar?

@porwest dollar tree isn’t a dollar store anymore lol. They changed everything to $1.25. Haven’t been there in a long time and wonder if that’s still the case.

@lovebuglena Oh, they are completely changing. We bought calendars there the other day and they were $1.50. And now they have $3 items and $5 items. Before you know it NOTHING will be $1.25, and I tend to think eventually it won't be worth shopping there anymore. Recently there have been less and less items I find appealing there, and that used to not be the case.

I have a whole drawer crammed full of socks. Not that I buy them. People just keep giving them to me. I have some socks that I haven't even worn yet. Want any?

@porwest — There’s a couple of memes to that effect on Facebook. One is astronauts landing on Mars and finding a Dollar General, and the other is a highway informational sign saying, “Warning: Last Dollar General for 1/4 mile.”

Most of the ankle socks I buy are too thick. Do you have any investments in Nvidia? Been seeing a lot about them recently. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio Nvidia will do well unless or until more companies get onboard making AI chips, which many are. I am sure Nvidia will remain on top for a while, but how long is the question, and so timing a good out would also be a good idea.

I buy socks just when I'm about down to 2 pairs, & that's like every 3 years
I buy like the 6 pk & depending on the cost I get like 2 pks so they last.

I did not know that about Dollar General socks. I usually go to Dollar Tree but will have to check it out. I need some thicker ones for winter.

If you are near a TJMaxx or a Ross store, you might be surprised of the clothing options there. I can usually find socks for my son that are name brand (that's not required for us) and last a long time. I think Fruit of the Loom has had it's heyday, I haven't purchased any of their goods for several years, but I have heard many people say they are not worth buying.
