D id you know that wild turkeys can not fly all over the place like other birds can. Wild turkeys can only fly for short distances. They can only fly for 100 yards. They can fly really fast about 50 MPH. Turkeys that are not wild and are raised on farms can not fly at all. Why you ask? They develop larger breasts which makes it to hard for them to fly. Just an interesting fact that I thought you would like to know.

We bred turkeys for sale. They couldn't fly very far at all.

I think there was a famous episode of WPRK in Cincinnati about turkeys not being able to fly. I believe it was before my time, but I saw the rerun.

Wild turkeys are heavy like vultures.I imagine it is hard for them to get lift off and fly their big bodies around.

They are really amazing--we have a growing flock of wild turkeys here in Alameda--we even have wild turkey crossing signs--but I have never seen any of them fly

You just reminded me of when I was a child, Our teacher taught us to outline our hand with the thumb held up and from that draw a turkey,

Some birds can't fly;or;can fly for short distances and for a limited time.Besides turkies;other examples are hens and peacock.
