What Would You Do? Scenario, you're at a playground with your 2 year old kid. She's not very verbal yet and is very shy. An older kid, 6-7 years old, keeps trying to engage with her to play, but it just makes her cry because she is so shy. Each time you smile and say something like "she likes to play by herself" or "she wants to be alone" but the kid is persistent. Like every other minute. After at least a dozen times you say it loud enough for her Mom to hear that you are talking to her kid and what you're saying. She doesn't even acknowledge the situation, certainly doesn't talk to her kid. How long would you deal with it before you left or said something to the Mom?

I think as soon as my child started crying I’d talk to the mom. I mean, an effort was made to clue her in, and she remained oblivious or just didn’t take action. It would be okay to politely come out and ask her to have her son withdraw his sweet, but misguided efforts.

after the second or the third time, i would go and say something or would move my kid to some other spot in the park.

@fivecandles you did great.also,i am shocked how parents don't take care of their children.why not hiring someone if they will only sit and talk on phone.and,i am glad you protected your daughter.she told how she felt and others should respect that

That's a big age difference between the two kids. I can see that the two year old could be afraid of the bigger kid. I'm protective. I would probably take my young child somewhere else and engage in play with her/him.

A big difference! Esp with an outgoing older kid and a shy little kid.
