Old Discussions - some curiosity

I was browsing through the discussions that I started ever since I joined. And I saw that they are there as it is still, even after so many years. It was great to read them as it took me in a different world altogether. It made me recall all those good old friends, who don't seem to be here now. I recalled all those memories, why I started the discussions, how helpful people here were, etc. Along with that, one thing struck me - what will happen if I were to delete any/or more discussions? They are there from the old MyLot model. I'm obviously not going to delete them. But the thought of knowing that, makes me curious to know. Do you ever go back to read your own discussions years ago? How do you feel if you stumble upon any?

Most of mine are fairly recent. I don't write that many, or didn't back in the day. Now I write one or two a day.

Both of us have joined MyLot almost during the same time frame - you have completed 15 years and I have 16. You said you just write one or two everyday. Comparatively I have been more active these days. But still, your total number of posts is way too high than mine... This is just a mere observation.

@abhi_bangal When I first started, I'd say I had less then 100 discussions behind me. However, in the most recent years (more inportantly the last two) I've written three to four discussions a day Sometimes more depending the day and how I was feeling. But I was also documenting my time dealing with my husband and his stroke recovery. I often feel like I'm saying the same thing, but it's important. I spend most of my day commenting and responding to comments because that's where the money is and I need the money.

@kaylachan This place is good to make friends and earn some few bucks which isn't bad at all. And I must admit the money that comes through here will definitely pay at least one of your bills monthly. So yes, whatever it is, it matters. That's why if one is active here the process of cashing out can also be boosted. A lot of people need money, all of us, in fact. Of course, I too. And this is the truth for today. Because today's world doesn't work on a bargain system like it used to be here a couple of generations back.

I am constantly going back to my old posts, as well as older posts from other members. LOTS and lots to still respond and interact with, and I wish more people would spend more time finding them. As I like to say, "sometimes you just have to SCROLL DOWN." Why let them just sit on the server and collect dust?

What I realised from the old posts is that there is still worthy information to go back and read. If you were to search any particular keyword, you will get the considerable number of posts. If you read each and every comment, you will find that they are valuable and worth spending the time. That's why I too feel that they really need to be read by more and more people. That makes me agree with you, why let those valuable comments just sit on the server and collect dust? Let them be there for everyone

@porwest Is that possible to do what you are talking about? But what will be the benefit of doing that? How will it help someone the way you are thinking? Will it help anyone with earning some more pennies? I'm curious and have so many questions

@abhi_bangal I will continue to scour myLot for old posts and do my best to bring them back to life and back to the fore. Onward and upward.

I’ve gone back and deleted quite a few discussions. Because I might not want a picture up anymore, or a person is out of my life. But most of mine are still there.

I agree with you that at times we feel we need to delete some past memories. We don't need them in any form. No articles, no pictures, no text, no messages, no emails, just NOTHING. And this is mostly fine when someone is out of our lives. I guess, what you did is perfectly fine.

I have deleted only two so far. And both there those who remained unanswered. They were started long long back. I think when there was the old version of MyLot. There are still a few that are unanswered. However, I'm not in the mood to delete them. And I don't know why.

My posts are not that many and too far between compared to regulars and old-timers on myLot.

You have 7000+ posts. They aren't less either. But I do often see you responding to discussions. And being active. So, the volume is definitely there. I'm sure. On the other hand, there are some "legend" MyLotters, who have reached six-figure posts here. They are veterans. And we are too far from them

@everwonderwhy 7250 to be precise. And if you answer this one before replying anywhere else, it'll be 7251, obviously.

@abhi_bangal I didn't know I had 7000+ post. How did you figure that out?

There is one member here who often will go back into someone's discussions and comment. It's interesting to see what I wrote a couple of years ago. Have a good day.

Oh really you know anyone who does this? Isn't they interesting? I mean, it would sound a bit different and unique to go back to the old discussions which might not have any practical value today. But there is no such limitation as to how old and which discussions you can reply to and which one's you can't. So, at times it's okay to go back to old discussions. It would be kind of "revision" for us to see how things were at that time.

i did actually go through my old discussions when i came back here. it was interesting and nostalgic looking at those. but even without going back to those discussions, i notice that some people are not on myLot anymore and i wonder where they are and what happened while i was gone.
