I re-did the lampost painting because I wasn't satisfied with the first effort.

Here is the finished painting now that I've re-done it. It's supposed to be impressionistic. I managed to finish it today. So I started by mixing the sky colour, trying to get it more like the colour on the reference photo, and although it's not perfect, it's definitely closer to the original. Then I mixed some orange into it and continued down until nearer the horizon it was pure orange. And I painted in the cloud coming up behind the large lampost. I let that dry a bit, and while that was drying I mixed the colours for the trees and bushes using ultramarine blue, yellow ochre and burnt umber. Then I painted those in. When that was dry I painted in the paths with a bluey grey colour. I had to wait for that to dry before I painted in the road with a slightly darker shade. When that was dry I painted in the lampposts in black. I had to wait for that to dry before I painted in the lights. I added a few streaks across the orange near the horizon. And then I called it finished. This is another one that is going to go sent to the London Art Course, and this is the one that will be sent. I do think it's a lot better than the first effort.
