11/1/24 - Update On My Husband

My husband wasn't feeling well yesterday; but they pushed him really hard in physical therapy. I feel so bad for him.
He was in better spirits yesterday. He told me that he fell yesterday but didn't hurt himself. I tried to get the details several times; but I couldn't hear or understand him. I will ask him about it again this weekend when I see him.
I am still holding out a small hope that he will be able to come home some day; but I'm also being realistic that he may not.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

I would wish for the two of you to live somewhere together safely.

He would require 24/7 help. We can't afford that.

@LindaOHio He needs that they work on his arms, he needs strong arms if he want to help himself getting up from a chair or a bed.

@LadyDuck The problem is his left arm. He has no strength; and the shoulder hurts him a lot.

I am sorry to read that he fell once again. He just isn't strong, his legs are weak from his heart problems. I hope he can improve, but maybe start making a ''plan B'' ... would you consider moving to a facility with him, so that you could be together? I realize no one really wants to do that, but you're alone in a big house, and he's alone there, it seems to be a sort of a solution? I don't know, of course..just thinking about how you could be together.

I am very sorry. This seems as a setback. Thinking about you.

@LindaOHio I can imagine that. I get depressed many days when my legs hurt too much or get swollen. I think that he has a lot more reasons to feel that way.

@marguicha I'm sorry your legs hurt so much. Sometimes I get low when I know I can't do something because I can't get around. Have a good weekend.

Pushing hard is what physical therapists do for a living. Tell him not to take it personally.

@LindaOHio — especially if you’re not used to doing things. Seems to me that what they’d expect out of an 83-year-old wouldn’t be what they’d expect out of a 23-year-old. But as I said, that’s what they do for a living.

He's 83 years old. He can only do so much.

He told them he didn't feel well; but it didn't matter.

He is technically allowed to refuse if he is not feeling strong enough or feels to ill to do therapy that day. I am sure sorry to hear he fell.

I think it would be good if there was someplace where you two could live together and he still had medical personnel looking out for him, Blessings to you both,

Hope & prayers is all we have to believe in & without that

Time will tell I guess. Maybe if they push him hard he will be able to progress.

My grandparents lived under separate roofs for the last few years of their lives, it took quite a toll on my Gramma as she remained at home, and was busy caring for the home, cleaning, laundry, cooking and shopping and also driving into town to visit with Grandpa.
I hope that you can be together again soon.

I know my husband would not want to live if he can't return home and be mobile.

At least he was in better spirits when you talked to him and certainly glad he didn't get hurt when he fell.
It's got to be terribly hard being back to the will he come home or will he have to stay. It's like a dream you can't wake up from.
