how to explain it?

I just called up my local newspaper and well, yelled. Meanie me. Why did I do that? It's hunting season here apparently. Fine. IF you are starving and need to kill a deer, well, go for it. But please, newspaper, don't post photos of that dead animal. That animal that used to enjoy whatever life means to it. I really don't want to see photos of a dead animal. Plus its being posted in an already violent political season. AND don't write how fantastic and glorious the teens are that killed that animal. Just take its life, say you are grateful for its sacrifice and be done with it. Don't scream hooray!!! I'm fantastic cause I just killed something. Please save the boasting for the times you won first prize for being the best speller or best science project. Not spilling blood. There should not be a gloating contest for spilling blood.

I wholly agree. Lately it seems that the only important thing is violence.

@marguicha I'm getting nervous about going outside my house. I wish it was just paranoia.

@sallypup My leg problem has been in part because I don´t dare go out alone. But I´m sure that in my case it is not paranoia. Violence is around the corner.

They put the animal on the actual page? That doesn’t sound like something I want to see. I hope they really “heard” you.

@AmbiePam Yes the deer are held up for everyone to admire. The newspaper rep did not think my opinion valid. "News is news." I don't believe people in car wrecks are photographed for newspapers. Same deal to me as the deer.

Every creature deserves to live--in large part my belief caused me to stop eating animals about 20 years ago--and I am glad--we kill all too easily--

It's a wonder why we're not at war. We're too damn trigger happy.

Very well said. Hunters should be thankful for what Mother Nature allowed them to reap and its my way of thinking that those hunters should apologize for having to kill it. It's the same as saying grace before a meal, except no one really thanks God for letting them slaughter so much livestock then have so many people waste all that meat, it's a crying shame what so many do.

US Native Americans for the most part did something similar. They would have a dance to ask the spirit of the animal they needed to feed their tribe to allow then one animal then once they got that animal they would thank the spirit of the animal that provided them with food. They were so very spiritual.

@rebelann I like the Jewish way of doing things. Jews bless and thank God for each part of their meal. It's a thoughtful way to eat, not just a grabbing hold of food and stuffing it into your mouth.

I totally agree with you. I do feel sorry for the animals that get killed but I have to say when I was little my parents were glad when a hunter who was a friend gave dad a side of deer, That meat went a long way and was delicious, OK enough said,

@RasmaSandra Thank you for that. My point is not to brag and feel super fantastic that you killed the animal. Eat the flesh if you are hungry but also acknowledge that it gave up its life for you and yours.

There is a saying about news, and why gory things get posted: "If it bleeds, it reads." but I am with you. Killing an animal is not news.

@Gardengerty I find the idea of what is okay to kill and what isn't an interesting question. A cat and dog is safe but not cows, pigs or some wild animals.

It is more like the deer who might be starving if hunting was not allowed. I understand you find the picture upsetting though.I wouldn't care for it myself.

You were not mean at all. I feel sorry for those docile creatures and then to show to the world in that condition is not acceptable

I agree with you that killing an innocent animal and being praised for ending the life is not funny.

That's why I hate pictures of trophy hunters with their kill. Have a good weekend.
