I have been storing coriander leaves isn the fridge as we always got more than we required at a time But in a few days' they would have to be thrown away as they did not keep fresh Browsing through youtube I came across a suggestion that putting a bit of sugar in the water would keep the leaves fresh I followed that instruction and I am happy to say they stay fresh for days. Wish I had known about this earlier as I have thrown loaods away.

It's time I told this thing to my wife We also threw away a portion of coriander for the same reason - they not remaining fresh. The leaves would start becoming yellowish. Then what did is, we used to buy only a handful of it as much as we would require. That solved the issue of needing to throw it away unnecessarily. But then it wasn't available when we wanted it or someone needed to have one trip to the market. Again unnecessary! But as @LadyDuck Anna said, my wife used to clean up the stems and only pluck the green leaves. That was a bit better. But now, I'll give your method a chance. Hope it helps!

With the method I use it stay fresh for days and less work - just a bit of sugar in a bowl of water, cut off the roots and put the stems in water.

@allknowing Oh ok. Thanks for describing the recipe. Because I was about to ask you exactly how you put the leaves so that I could have tried that as well. But just to be specific I would ask you, you put the coriander in the bowl full of sugar water, right? So do you make the coriander stand up or how is it?

I clean up the stems, wrap it in kitchen paper towel and place in a Ziplock in the fridge. It lasts for almost 8 to 10 days.

@allknowing This method is good if you keep the stems inside a jar full of water.

@LadyDuck That is how it is done - less bother. The water remains clean and the stems do not rot.
