It had been running and not flushing for awhile. Well you could manully flush it but that is a pain, and luckily I have another. There are all kinds of repair parts and kits you can buy, but I started with a simple 5.00 flange. It took a bit to get the old one out but he put the new one in and attached it, and it flushed like a pro. It also is not running anymore..so yay, friend! Anytime, I can save money on something I am thrilled. God knows how much it would cost to have a plumber do that. I know what he did though so next time I can probably do it myself if need be.

That’s wonderful! The handle broke on mine, and I manually flushed it for quite awhile. Eventually, my dad fixed it.

Glad you got it fixed and yes it probably would have been a lot to have a plumber come and do it.

Vince is good at fixing stuff and now that there are so many tutorials on YouTube it's even easier to tackle some fixes.

Friend isn't too good at fixing things mostly due to his eyesight and physical limitations, but I knew that was in his wheelhouse.

my toilet wouldn't stop running last. my handyman came and fixed it, Once I did have a problem where it wasn't running in the tank it trickled in the toilet bowl for months before my sister decided to call a plumber and there was nothing I could do but pay a lot larger water bill than I usually pay she found a plumber who put all new parts on our toilet and three other jobs for a very cheap. he never shut up and said he is only working to do something because he had enough money for life which is why he barely charged He was never asked back for his bragging and not being quiet one minute!

That's funny! When former roomie was here he kept clogging the one in the other bathroom. I had that one replaced..and that plumber never cashed his check! I even called his office!

@LovesEverybody Did you try a plunger first? I find the more expensive bell shaped plungers to be worth their weight in gold. I have a snake too, but I usually find a plunger will do the trick and or boiling water, baking soda and vinegar is very good.

@snowy22315 Since your roommate clogged the toilet it reminded me that I clogged the toilet a couple of months ago and I had to unclog it myself. my sister said to use a wire hanger. that was so much anxiety! the plumber who talked so much got his money as he only accepted cash! he wasn't doing work for free! My sister had to go to two ATM's as the ones in my town don't let people get that much money out at one machine in one day. She didn't know before he came and she doesn't carry that kind of money But now that I think of it, the time i unclogged the toilet showed me I could rise to the occasion if need be! Have a good rest of your weekend!

A plumber would have charged you close to $200. Have a good day.
