Tornado Warning/Electricity Flickering

Some people think tornadoes aren’t a problem this time of year in Tornado Alley, but of course, they can develop any time of year. I think it was two years ago we had a really bad one in December here in Oklahoma. So, the electricity is flickering, the tornado sirens have gone off twice, and I’ve got a cowering dog in my lap. It’s been a whole night of this, and the rest of the night will continue in this vein according to the meteorologist talking before my electricity went off again. Some tornadoes have already touched down. The damage will be unknown until daylight. My dad has his phone off (he started turning it off at night when my awful terrible uncle used to call him asking for pizza money at 1am (my late mom’s brother), but he never pays attention to the sirens or warnings anyway. My stepmom does (they have a shelter), but she’s likely sleeping through it. I can’t drive over there. It’s too dangerous. Tornado reasons, and flood reasons. People are having to be rescued. I’ve got medicine together, some bottles of water, that iffy vegan jerky, and blankets if I need to take cover in the bathtub. So if you happen to be reading this, please say a prayer. I would appreciate it, and so would my fellow Oklahomans.

Oh, Amber!! Be safe, please. Do you have a closet you can hide in with your pup? Plug your phone in if the power is still on. I'm with you in spirit and saying a big prayer, sweetie.

Because of the “cardboard” door on the closet, the bathtub is safest. I’ve got my phone plugged in, don’t worry. There seems to be a lull right now, but another circulation is coming by pretty soon. Thank you for the prayer!

@AmbiePam I am glad to hear you are as prepped as you are. No matter how many tornadoes I have lived through, they are still scary!

This sounds scary, please be safe do not take risks. Find the safest place in your apartment where to stay and do not move from there.

We are okay now, thank the Lord. Some lost their homes, and a school lost their roof. Five tornadoes touched down, but no one was killed that I have heard.

I watched some of the coverage from OKC overnight as the storms had cleared the city, heading for Tulsa. And another round today…and WORSE tomorrow in the eastern part of the state.

I am praying for you and those in your area. The light of day will shine in a few hours, and I hope that you remain safe until then and afterwards. You sound like you have things well thought out and planned for. You are not alone, you have friends who are praying and thinking of you.

We’re okay, Julia, and thank you so much for the prayers! A lot of neighborhoods were hit, and a school, but so far no fatalities. Keep us in your prayers with severe storms coming this afternoon and continuing tomorrow.

I just hopped back on and checked your weather...tornado warning still, and the flooding, etc. Be safe! I hope others are safe, too. You will be so tired, I imagine you are not sleeping any tonight, either.

I hope you are safe. The least you could do is stay downstairs and keep the dog in company. I do not think the tornado you mentioned is very powerful this time around. At least not in news. Just be in a safe area. May be the wind is very strong and it cut off the power lines. Your Father and stepmom would all be fine.It would be dangerious to be roads especially with tornadoes and at night. So , do not drive over there.I hope there is less damage when day arrives. Hopefully nothing bad would happen. My prayers with you.Take care!

The tornado took out neighborhoods. It is very dangerous. Someone found their car four streets over from where it was parked! A tornado did that. And I can’t stay downstairs because I live in the top floor apartment.
