This Morning’s Tornado Aftermath

Thank you so much for the prayers and good thoughts everyone sent after my last post about the tornado warnings and sirens with the electricity flickering. It kept going on and off, which was disconcerting, and sent my dog into fits. I can’t believe I still have electricity with so many currently without it. Five tornadoes touched down, with five (updated to 11 now) people hurt. No fatalities, which is a miracle. It hit mostly homes, but a school is without a roof, and some businesses were also hit. My dad slept through it all, which is a “benefit” when you have to take your hearing aids at night. He would have just gone back to sleep anyway. Severe storms this afternoon, and then tomorrow parts of Oklahoma are in danger again. We had a drought, but this brought on some flooding. I feel badly for all affected, but again, no one was killed. With tornadoes, that is rare. Thank you again, to everyone.

i prayed for you but i am sorry i didn't know about the five tornados. I fell asleep before the weather channel came on. I pray there are no severe storms this afternoon. that must have been scary. once this summer I lay down for a nap and woke up to seven tornado warnings in my email that I never knew we had. I get severe weather warnings via email I didn't need hearing aids. I just missed the warning Your dog deserves a treat. i will keep you and Oklahoma in my prayers

This is devastating to read. We just had two typhoons last month and left so much destruction on houses and other buildings.

@AmbiePam It was really devastating to note that some of the areas did not experienced flooding before.

@AmbiePam That is supposed to be the worst state for Tornadoes, right? Must be pretty stressful for most people. You take care. Hugs.

Amber, I'm so sorry I missed your post, but so very thankful you all are okay. It's tragic for so many who were affected, though. Prayers for all of you.

@AmbiePam I remember the sirens in Missouri when my Mom lived there. The sound reminded me of World War 2.

I am glad you and your dad are safe. Bob hears the storms even with hearing aids out, or he sees the light show. I am glad the drought is broken with no loss of life.

Good you were not affected. Tornadoes have now become a rule than an exception.

Some poor soul lost a finger, but an amputated finger is lucky considering a tree went through his car.

So pleased to hear you're safe and that no-one was killed. I sometimes envy Vince with his lack of hearing too.

I missed your last discussion about the tornado that you are talking about. But it looks like you have come out of everything quite successfully and most importantly, safely. Are there more predictions of any tornado hitting? And I hope you all stay safe and take care of yourself, and of your neighbourhood people as well.

I was just awakened by a tornado warning five minutes ago, but it is going to miss me, and is heading East. I hope those people will be safe.

@abhi_bangal You can only rate the tornado for certain after it touches down, and the ones yesterday were F3. The scale is an F0 to the worst, an F5. The tornado warnings are gone now, but the threat of tornadoes will come back this afternoon for the final round.

@AmbiePam How severe is the tornado, by the way? You might have got a warning regarding the intensity, so that will get you an idea of how much damage it may cause. I hope that everything is okay on your side. And what's the latest news? Did it head east? How's it now?

Sounded alarming but glad you are ok! I guess as I don't know much about tornados - I think of them as "singular" - so wow on the 5. Thank goodness on no fatalities and hope it stays that way as you say more is coming. Please continue to keep safe!

Glad you didn't get hit by any of those. It's terrifying when you know a tornado/ typhoon/ hurricane or similar is coming straight towards you and there's nothing you can do about it.
