Was It Only 1 Hour?

Here in North America we turned our clocks back today. We turned ours back last night before going to bed. I am all for a little extra sleep on the weekend, but somehow the thought of an extra hour's sleep makes me wake early. The strange thing was we did not turn back the alarm clock in our bedroom. When I woke I knew it was early, but even earlier given that we had the time change and I wasn't looking at the correct time. And the morning goes by..........here it is just after noon, and it feels like it should be mid afternoon. So, I have to ask, was it only 1 hour that we turned those clocks back? I feel like today will be a very long day.

Technically, if we didn't use clocks, I woke up the same time as I always do (with the sunrise). I didn't get extra sleep, but I did do some yard cleaning . . . when I entered the house again, that's when I realized I actually gained an hour . I'm ok with setting the clocks back . . . I'm not for the spring one where I do feel like I lost an hour (totally throws my body clock off).

You have had a better day than I have had. I do wish that they would do away with the time change.

@Juliaacv I hope as the week goes by, it feels more "normal". Here, I think it's held up still by the government - how long do these things have to keep on going? You'd think it were a simple thing to just stop this time change.

@much2say Each province here points to the neighbouring province as well as to a neghbouring state. If everyone just stopped pointing fingers and stopped with the time change I have a feeling that everyone would be much happier.

Last night/early morning was so unusual that I’m not sure how the time change feels right now. Luckily, my clocks set themselves back or I would be confused. It does feel like the day should be a little farther along though.

I can understand you feeling as you do, it will catch up with you. We had a big breakfast, and the kitchen is all cleaned up. I made some soup for my lunches this week, it is done and cooling in a bowl until I put it into the fridge. I will put a load of darks in to wash and make a chocolate cake for supper, my hubby's request. And besides a 15 or 20 minute afternoon nap, it will be a long afternoon I fear. I should call our son and see what they are up to today.

Last Sunday I also had the feeling that the day never ended, but now we are on schedule with the new time.

That was my day yesterday. I did tire myself out, and slept very well last night. Today I feel my old usual self.

@LadyDuck That is a good sleep when you lie down exhausted. I stayed up a bit longer than I usually do.

It takes us all a few days to get used to the change. Yes, just the one hour. And, for that all this readjusting.

It may take some time before you adjust to the time change. We don't adopt the summer time (daylight saving).

I agree with you, they should stop it. On the news here in Ontario they said that they will stop it when Quebec, which is beside us and PA stop doing it. I am not sure how PA comes into play, but apparently it does. The Yukon Territory, some of BC, some of Quebec and all of Saskatchewan do not play the clock time change game.

@wolfgirl569 The little hamlet that we lived in for over 20 years was the last in the country to change over. I loved living there and not changing our clocks, although it did cause problems with both of our workplaces as it was a really small area that didn't change.

@Juliaacv I think if you guys stopped that might help the US decide to. I wish Ohio would at least opt out

I hate to think that my workday tomorrow will drag by as much as today feels like it did. In a couple of hours it will start to get dark, then the day will be closer to being done.

Yes, it was a long day. It did not always bother me. As I grow older I feel like I am bothered by the same things that the very young children are bothered by.

I hope sooner than later, on Mondays I work an extra 1/2 hour so that on Thursdays I can finish earlier. I don't want this to carry over to the work day.
