Depression isn't caused by depression

I just found a great article about the misinformation and mistreatment of depression. There was one part that really spoke to me.
"Depression should be considered as a diagnosis similar to a headache. Both are medical diagnoses, but neither explains what causes the symptoms. Like a headache, depression is a description of a problem that can have many different causes. A diagnosis of depression does not explain the cause of depressed mood any more than a diagnosis of headaches explains the cause of pain in the head,"
Heres the link if you want to read the whole thing. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Depression is a feeling as well as a disorder or desise. While there are differences, depression can also be a symptom of itself. It just depends on the person.

Depression cannot be a symptom of depression, like a headache cannot be a symptom of a headache.
