Friends, I´m just resuscitating after over 4 hours. I had fun. Humberto asked first for a big beautiful dish with several different cold Peruvian dishes. The main part was seafood of several sorts. Then I stole a bit of Dixie´s crab grilleé (delicious) and a dish of fettuccine with a sort of Alfredo sauce that Humberto ordered plus, of course, my octopus with olive sauce. It was too late to go to the place we were going before lunch so we decided to go after lunch. We came to my home for cake and some Jack Daniels for Humberto. Then, suddenly, I felt awful. I went to the bathroom. I not only had diarrhea but did not have the strenght to get up from the toilette. So I stayed there sweatting. Humberto called and asked me if I was ok and I said no but would not let them come in yet. I got up cleaned the toilette and my hands and reached my bed by walking with the help of my hands grabing every possible handle. Then dixie came in and helped me to my PJs. Then she asked me where did I keep pills for stomach problems. She checked and with the aid of Humberto decided on a pill and some drops. She told me to sleep. I told her I was sorry and went to sleep. I woke up at 6 when they said they would go if I felt better. I did. Then I went back to sleep again. I woke up a bit again before 8 and discovered that my laptop was hidded by my night table and that all the pots in the kitchen were clean. And now an hour has gone by again but Luna is fed and I´m mylotting. A chicken soup in boiling in the kitchen in one of the pots that Dixie washed. I hope I´ll survive.

@rakski And today I woke up in perfect shape. But I´m going to have all that soup for lunch, snacks and dinner. It is not only water but salt too.

I'm glad there were people in the house with you when you were so ill. Take care.

@sallypup I think that this problem is in the past. In the future I´ll ask Anita to put the leftover food immediatly in the fridge. Or I´ll be more careful to make the exact amount for the 2 of us.

The octopus sounds like a recipe for a very bad night in the bathroom. I’m glad you at least had some fun.

It wasn´t the octopus, I think. It was the rice of the day before that Anita did not place in the fridge.

@marguicha I am hearing more and more about people getting sick from rice that sits our or pasta, even. Be careful. My grandmother on holidays left all on the table and covered with a cloth. I had some kind of stomach illness every holiday season. It got better when I was on my own and cooked and PUT THINGS AWAY.

I started to have problems after I ate a leftover rice that Anita had not placed in the fridge immediatly as I do. It was not the octopus. But I should have not accepted the invitation. Still it was a too grat temptation and now that I´m feeling well again I do not regret it.

@LadyDuck I should not have eaten it. It was my fault. Usually when I Feel that some food is not what I like, I have tummy problems if I eat it. The rest of the people that eat it have no problems yet I´m picky. I´m absolutly sure that nothing I ate at the restaurant made me ill, including a delicious pisco sour I had with some appetizers.

I feel fine now. I don´t think it was the octopus though. I was having problems before. I think that I should nor have eaten a rice that Anita had left on the stove instead of placing in the fridge. I always place leftovers in glass Tupperware containers and in the fridge immediatly after I eat.

Either the heavy Octopussy stuff did not suit you. Or perhaps the cooks did not maintain proper hygiene. Was the Octopus well grilled and / or fried? Well, just a hypothesis. Sorry for what you went through. Hope Coral would still have been active here to give you mental strength! But well, that reminds me of my terrible, terrible stomach upset in December 2018. I ordered a Veg Rice Biryani online on a Sunday. Sunday night and Monday went fine. However I first had vomit Tuesday morning and then terrible stomach upset. Initial medicines didn't provide much relief so I had a change of medicines after 2 days. It took me almost a week to recover. Well, I never ordered Rice Biryani online after that. Also, I am very choosy about the Restaurants I go to or order Online.

@marguicha Oh well, you definitely should have refused for the Peruvian restaurant. But well, sometimes we do tend to become slaves of our instant emotions!!

I´m feeling fine this morning. Dixie just called me and told me what NOT to eat. I just ate a small piece of bread with some butter for breakfast. I won´t touch some beautiful ripe avocados until this evening or maybe tomorrow.

I´m fine now. I shouldn´t have gone. It was not the octopus. I think it was the rice that Anita left out of the fridge that gave me food poisoning. It could have been worse.

@marguicha You're probably right, cooked rice or potatoes are really bad for that. We once accidentally (of course!) gave ourselves food poisoning from some re-heated soup which had potatoes in. I was so ill I actually started to worry I could die from dehydration! I had to make myself some emergency rehydration solution. Luckily I was still able to get to the kitchen to prepare it.

@Fleura The time I was some years ago a week at the hospital, my problem was being old an dehydrated after getting a bug that everyone has. It is very contagious but only a worry for babies and ol´ witches like myself.

No. I made rice and seafoof on Friday and Anita forgot to place it in the fridge. I ate it for dinner forgetting that now the weather is warm. The day before the invite I was ill. But then, on Sunday morning, Dixie called me to invite me. I could not say no. And I went. My usual dish at that restaurant is octopus and olive sauce. I only tried Dixie´s crab which is not a cause for any mess. But neither was the octopus nor the pisco sour. I was ill from eating that leftover rice.

Seems like something didn't go right. Has happened with me once when I enjoyed the lavish buffet at one fancy restaurant with my friends and family. And I got a bad diarrhoea later, I had to be admitted to the hospital as it worsened. But glad that we had fun time before feeling awful and dying. Nice of them to wait till you feel better. And nothing better than waking up after some sickness and you realise that all chores are taken care of Relax and feel better

I think that after the food poisoning ended (it wasn´t the octopus but the rice I had eaten the day before) I had a sudden low pressure. I started to sweat in the bathroom and scarcely reached my bed. The Dixie came in and took over. I´m fine today but I will eat diet and lots of liquid. Right now I have a cup of weak tea at my night table.
