Last week we went on a family trip to Paris (more on that later). And for our journey home, since we left just after lunch and would arrive home quite late in the evening, we decided to just buy a sandwich or some sort of snack to eat on the train. Little One chose this packaged pasta salad – even though she doesn’t like salad – because she could eat the pasta and the other bits she liked and we could have the rest (before I had children I used to see other parents eating their children’s left-over food and thought it was horrible – now I admit I do it all the time). So part way through the journey she opened the box and ate what she wanted of the meal, then passed the remains through to us (we were in the seat in front) to finish it off. The catch was that when my partner went to do so he was stumped because she had already eaten the fork! Luckily I always carry a couple of emergency spoons and chopsticks in my bag, but the situation did crack me up; not a problem we have had to deal with before! Have you tried edible cutlery? I'm not sure, I think it was some sort of compressed baked bread-type stuff. I should have checked the ingredients list but I didn't think of that.

I remember the edible forks in France, they are made of flour, oil, salt and water, a sort of bread.

@Fleura I remember that we started seeing them not long before moving here, so it was around the year 2000, but it was not so pretty as those that now Sobedo makes.

Really? An edible fork? I don't think they've made it here yet. Maybe they've all been eaten.

I guess it's one step further than compostable stuff!

I haven't found any edible tableware. Is it because my house is too remote... so not much contemporary food has entered my village?

It's not the kind of thing that would be useful at home. It's the first time I have seen any as well!

There is no need to worry about it,because the edible cutlery is made from starch and plant fiber etc.

edible cutlery sounds a good idea. I always carry bamboo cutlery with me, on my expeditions. Just in case!

I can't say that I have ever had edible cutlery. But hey, if it works, why not? Good you were able to get something that at least you could make do with and get the job done.
