Kegels For Anxiety

I was listening to one of my favorite YT channels and the gal had this great idea. She was talking about what to do if you are having a panic attack during an MRI. What to do? Most places have music and things like meditation and so forth to do. But, what about doing your Kegel exercises? Those pelvic floor exercises women do for different reasons. They help me with incontinence. Keep that area strong. I guess men can do them too. I have had anxiety for years. I was diagnosed with major depression with panic attacks back in the early 2000s. Had depression before that. Also have PTSD. So, I am going to try the Kegels next time I have an over amount of anxiety. What do you think?

Never heard of those, but I just zone out in an MRI. Plus, you can't move during an MRI.

I have never had an MRI but seen in movies how it feels. Doesn't help when you have claustrophobia!

@Dreamerby Actually, some hospitals do have open and standing MRI machines. So that's not really an issue. I've had several Mri's and it's not really as bad as it looks on t.v. If you're closterphobic, and you don't have the option of an open mri, you can ask them not to tape your head still. Also, MRI's aren't completely enclosed, either.

I have never heard of this before, The way I keep my anxiety level down is by repeating calm, calm, then lay down and just let all the tension flow out of my body, Or other times I just ignore that feeling on anxiety emerging and get involved with work online and it passes, Being alone I never let it overwhelm me, And speaking of an MRI I had to take one when I lived in Latvia they way I got through it was knowing that my husband was nearby and waiting for me, He was my rock,

I do mine with meditation or anxiety meds if they get real bad. But this is an option.

If it works for you, great. I would have an open MRI. Have a good day.
