I remember when bowling was popular. I used to be pretty good. I haven't bowled in probably 10 years. I was in a bowling league for a while and also we bowled when I was in junior high. I never hear about it anymore. I thought it would be fun to bring up the subject and share with you some things I found out about the history of bowling. It was massively popular in the mid-20th century. Some things I read said that it is making a resurgence. The Thunderbowl has been the largest bowling alley since 1962. It has 90 lanes. It is home to the Greater Detroit Bowling Associate Hall of Fame. The oldest public bowling alley in the US is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It still has human pensetters and was founded in 1908. The number of bowling centers has gone from 3470 in 2012 to 2849 in 2022. In 2007 there were 5,498 certified 10-pin bowling alleys in the US. We have 8 in my area that are still open but close early. Do you enjoy bowling? Were you in a league? Are there any alleys in your area? The picture is from Pixabay.

I used to bowl in bowling leagues in both Panama and Louisiana from childhood around 1969-2005 when Hurricane Katrina ended my bowling career when the bowling center in New Orleans was closed due to the storm. Now I bowl in the Nintendo Wii bowling games,

My dad was in a league, so I grew up watching him and his team play in various bowling allies. I was never great at it but it's always fun to try.

@celticeagle Me neither. Though my kids have through birthday parties there. They have "cosmic bowling" now . . . where it's dark and everything is in neon colors.

I have been bowling very often but what struck me the first time I went was the noise. I hadn't expected it to be so noisy.

90 lanes? Oh my goodness! I was in a league when I worked for a salt company. I was a terrible bowler but I had my own bowling ball and shoes. There is a big bowling complex in our area. I don't know if it's just bowling or if there's something else inside. Have a good day.

That's what it said. I was on one for a while. There may be something else inside.
