Today is the day

Today is the first Tuesday of November. It’s the day when we vote in the United States for president/vice president and other government officials.
The most important vote is of course for president/vice president. I really hope that history won’t repeat itself and the election won’t be dragged out for weeks, with votes still being counted.
Now what’s with all these celebrities urging people to vote for Harris… Would they still do that if her running mate was someone other than Trump?
Billie Eilish stopped performing during one of her concerts to tell the fans to vote for Harris. Politics should be left out of concerts, just like they should be left out of awards shows.
I hope those who cast their vote for Harris do so not because celebrities tell them to do it but because they truly believe she is the better choice for them and for this country.
And no matter their political party people shouldn’t vote for someone just because they dislike the other candidate. Just because someone is not a fan of or dislikesTrump as a person is not a good reason to vote for Harris in this election.
Seems very few publicly support Trump. I guess they are afraid they will get cancelled or that their careers may suffer as a result…
Adam Lambert posted in his IG story that if you support Trump to please unfollow him. I wonder how many followers he lost because of this.

Trump has said things that some people can't get over. The biggest one that comes up is his joking about some guy's junk. And apparently he's claiming we'll become a dictatorship if he is elected. Somehow I think most who vote for Haris only do so because they forgot how govornment works.

I never heard him say that we’ll become a dictatorship if he is elected.

But they have been after Trump as soon as he became president in 2016, if not when he announced that he is running.

@lovebuglena Yeah, I know. However, when he announced he was running in 2016 I don't think anyone expected him to win. All the presidents before him had some military or political background. He did not.

I don´t agree with you. There are many times when one does not vote for a political party but against one or against a person. I voted in my country at a primary for a candidate because the other one was a communist. And I don´t like extremes. As for celebrities, this is a world where influencers have power.

@lovebuglena I agree in part. Except with the extremes.

I think people should vote for the candidate and not for the political party. Like if someone is a Democrat but the better candidate happens to be Republican they should vote for the Republican candidate. And vice versa.

I don't vote against parties either. I vote against policies. In your case, voting against communism is votng against policy and therefore, would be a reason to vote against someone. In the case of this election, people who were on the side of Harris were not voting FOR Harris or her policies. They were voting AGAINST Trump, which is EXTREMELY dangerous.

This is a very important election. I think that celebrities have a voice just like anyone else. I think that Swift said what she said and others just followed her. It was good to have Swift start it all because I hope it got more young people out to vote. I think people have a right to state their views wherever and when ever as long as it is done peacefully.. Doesn't matter if it is at a concert or award show.
In some situations, it is good to vote for one to put the other one out. It depends on the situation.
Why would anyone support Trump? I think that most people have common sense and see Trump for who he is. I feel sorry for those who have been gaslighted by him and his colleagues. I hate to think of him winning the election. I guess we will see who wants a democracy and who wants a dictatorship.

Concerts are for enjoying music and awards shows are for celebrating the best in music and movies and television. They are not meant for politics. If someone wins an award I don’t want them getting political in their acceptance speech.

I hope a lot more young people voted in this election. That’s important.

@lovebuglena MANY more young people voted in record numbers, and voted for Trump. Trump won nearly all demographics. He won the black and Latino vote, the Jewish vote, the female vote, the blue collar vote, the women's vote...he got them all.

We will have a secure border. We will combat inflation, lower energy prices and improve the economy. We will put less strain on businesses to be able to operate. We will have stronger leadership and better opportunities for American workers to compete against lower wages across the globe. We will have stronger on crime prosecutors and judges to hold criminals to account for their crimes and keep them out of the general population. Police will be less hamstrung and be more free to do their jobs and protect citizens. We will have a stronger military.
The next four years will be BETTER.
It is time we wake up to the fact that the last four years has been nothing but hell, and I think we just did that as Trump secures an electoral landslide and will also win the popular vote and as we took back the Senate and looks like we will keep the House as well.
The Democrats were FIRED, and not without cause.

Generally speaking, celebrities don't matter in elections. The celebrities think they matter. But MOST people, especially blue collar, hardworking Americans KNOW these people are living outside the realm of reality and cannot relate whatsoever with the plights of average Americans. As for Harris supporters, while it may sound mean, I also believe it to be true—they don't care about the country. They only care about winning. That is evidenced when you look at the state of things—inflation, the border, the economy, the wars and so on and so forth—and consider that even without results they'd vote for more of the same failed policies sending America even further back than we've already been sent.
As for any celebrities not wanting Trump supporters to follow them and watch their movies or listen to their songs? That's fine with me. So far that's 71 million streams they will be missing out on. I guess they don't need the money, right?

If I were to unfollow celebs that support Harris that would be most of them lol. When it comes to entertainment I forget about politics, meaning that I won’t boycott a movie or stop listening to songs because of what those stars said or did politically or who they support, if I happen to be interested in that movie or those songs.

It’s hard to believe that only the borough of Staten Island (where I live) was majority for Trump and all the other boroughs went to Harris.

@lovebuglena Not surprising at all. New York has LONG been a blue state. In the last 76 years New York state has only voted for a Republican president three times. Twice for Reagan in 80 and 84 and once for Dewey in 1948.
