Good Morning!
There are some of you who write such good discussions.
By good, I mean:
1. They have an interesting subject
2. They are not of a good length--- not too short and not too long. I feel as if I write all my discussions too long and that makes others not want to read them
3. The subject is something everybody wants to read about.
Then some start so many discussions and they are all super.
I have a two-part question for you if you would please answer.
The first question is how do you write so many great posts? I mean what is the secret to writing that much?
Part two of the question is how do you get so many fascinating ideas about what to write?
I am looking for advice on what you think I should do to write better.
And how to get so many super interesting ideas to write about? Can anybody help me? i would greatly appreciate it

I don´t try to earn a lot of money here so for me good discussions are not the ones that receive a lot of likes or answers necessarily. I don´t like to read too long posts so I don´t make mine too long either. For me mylot is both a diary and a way to relate to nice people all over the world.

@LovesEverybody You should at least take the money. Why NOT take the money. It doesn't have to be your focus to cash in on it. lol

I am sort of like you. I am not trying to earn money so I didn't give my PayPal address.
What makes you consider a post good if not necessarily how many people reply to it or like it? Now that I am thinking about it, there have been some discussions that weren't of the best quality, yet those have 30+ likes and replies.
I will try to shorten my longer posts (that is hard to do for me because I tend to write too much. that is the same way I talk.
I do like relating to people like you around the world who are so kind.
when you say you treat mylot as a diary do you mean you share your life here?
Have a super day! it is cloudy, windy, and rainy here so I hope you have a sunny day!

We all have certain things we like to write about and are passionate about, and that certainly helps to create more content in that way. Some of us are writers in real life outside of here, such as myself, and that helps too because we already have a "voice" and a "process," and because writing comes more naturally for those of us who are writers.
I DO think shorter, more focused and concise posts do better than longer ones here. A quick hook and getting the point across quickly are key.
I think being able to easily draw from our experiences helps as well. Since we can write about anything, it pretty much opens the floodgates for ideas to be able to write about. I stub my toe on a wall, I can write about that and try to make it whimsical and funny. I can write about the weather and how I felt about it, or how it stopped me from doing something I wanted to. I can write about a cold sandwich I got at a restaurant. I can write about really needing to get at cleaning out my garage.
I think if you just focus on what interests YOU will make for an interesting discussion even if it's on a trivial topic because it's something you are familiar with and we get your take and perspective on it, which makes it unique and interesting in its own right.
Mosly, don't think of it as a job. Write when it feels right, not just to create a new post just because, and have FUN. When you allow it to be relaxed and fluid and fun, the rest of it just sort of falls into place by itself.

Yeah sometimes writing the subject in a word in the title helps too. Anyways there are no set formulas.

Thank you so much for the advice! Are you a writing professor besides a writer? I just thought you were an exceptional writer, I had no idea you were a writer outside of mylot, but it is obvious you are.
I think I have several things I want to write about based on your good advice, i didn't have time to write yet today as i went to bed early and slept later than normal. i will try to get one written and posted!

This is quite a hard one to answer as some posts that get a lot of responses are on very trivial subjects such as what they had for each meal or whatever. Do you have some childhood memories that you could write about? Shorter posts do seem to do better. Sometimes I make two posts out of one if it's easy to split them.
We haven't heard about Onnie for a while. How is he doing? I hope he is okay.

Mylot is like a diary to me when I am writing discussions. Also I like every comment under the discussion I read and comment back on some (if I have time, I comment back on all comments considering there's something to comment back).
I follow this principle of liking every comment I read underneath the posts. I read from laptop, so it's easies for me to read fast.

since I started my goal of writing a discussion a day in November I have been trying my hardest to like each person that replies. unless I don't see a reply i reply back to most of them except for those who give me a one word reply such as "yes" or "No" or some other reply like that as i have nothing that i can think about so i can reply back.
I read from laptop too since i use my phone for emergencies and texting. it is too hard to type on a phone!
have a great day!
