Have you heard of a four-pronged approach in teaching beginning reading? I have learned about this in my recent venture in Language and Literacy Education. I have embarked on this because I want to finish another PhD, which is this time in education field. It has four parts as the name implies. Fist is Genuine Love for Reading (GLR). Second is Critical Thinking (CT). Both cover Pre-Reading and During Reading activities. Third is Mastery of the Structures of the English/Filipino Language (MSE/FL) or Grammar and Oral Language Development (GOLD). This one covers the Post-Reading activities. Finally, the Transfer Stage (ST). This one is completely independent of the literature being studied. Because of this, it gave me an idea of separating or detailing the two chapters or modules of the nook that I just published, which are about phonics. So, I am working on a complete and comprehensive lessons about phonics, phonetics, and phonology. My target is to finish this book before the year ends, and I am working on it simultaneously with the book 2 of the series that I was talking about in my previous discussion here.
