What is a joke?

We've laughed at 'em. Light bulb jokes. Knock knock jokes. Ha ha. I'm a writer. I admit it. I've written minor journalistic pieces-published and paid for- earned me a fake wrought iron fence. I've written poetry and short stories. Most that were published earned me just a spot in a compilation shared by others. Made my Mom smile. A couple of times my work went overseas in a feminist pagan magazine. So today I think about jokes. I think about sarcasm. I think about dignity. I think about how I'd like to be spoken to. And how I'd like others to hear me speak. I think about how I could cause another human to smile rather than frown. Today I found a small town clinic that answered my call. My left eye is inflamed. Three hours later they had me in their clinic. Kindness oozed everywhere. Antibiotics were prescribed. And know what?? I am pretty sure both my angel medics were gay. That small town clinic advertizes that they are safe for gay people, trans people etc. etc. What a sad world!!!!! Those two lovely gentlemen have felt the need to form a pocket for the gay community. Made me wonder even as I headed out the door, feeling cared for. AND listened to. Goddess bless them both. The antibiotics are kicking in even as I feel a warm glow from visiting them.

First let me you for feeling that way about transgenders. Here, everybody gives me looks when I say transgenders, mentally challenged folks, acid attack victims, rape victims, spastics, and animals should be high on priority for help. The reason is, these people don't find jobs easily. So they cannot fend for themselves. Most people hate me because I plan to leave something in my will for these people rather than their children. ..Just as well...if they cannot understand the pain of such folks neither can I understand their greed. In so far as gays and lesbians are concerned, they can find jobs, but have to be discreet. The world needs to mature about their needs.

Bless them and their clinic, but they should be comfortable getting treatment everywhere of course.

As you say, it's sad that there needs to be a safe place for those who are a bit different.
