All things being equal to you prefer to buy natural or environmentally friendly products?

I know you can't really go buy the name "natural" because there are a lot of fake green products out there. Certainly we know in foodstuffs..natural is not always what it is stated to be, and may contain commercial additives and preservatives and so forth. I like buying the cleaning products when they work as well as conventional products. I bought some "natural" dishwasher detergent the other day. I thought I would take a chance because it actually cost less than the other brands. It seemed to work quite well though. I think by natural they mean no dyes or phosphates. Where do you come down on environmentally friendly or so called natural products?

Well if all things were equal, yes. However, I’ve noticed that they slap a “natural” tag on something and jack the price up. I can’t understand why shampoo with NO dyes in it cost more than shampoo with an extra ingredient (meaning an extra cost to make it) does.

I hate to say it but I buy according to price. I will compare prices and if the "natural" is within my budget then that's what I'll buy. I try to be conscious of environmentally friendly products.

Well I guess some things are both a need and a choice.

I buy "natural" as much as I can. Concerning food I do not buy if they contain dyes and palm oil. I also check the phosphates when I buy cleaning products.

@snowy22315 - We surely do not need more chemicals than what is strictly necessary.

Some of these so-called products don't work particularly well. If they do, I'm happy to buy them.

Some of the regular chemical cleaners are really awfully harsh.

I will try any environmentally friendly products anytime if I can afford it. I don’t trust “natural”, but I do look closer to find out why they call it that. My problem is environmentally friendly is so rarely the same price, or cheaper (here at least). Although, I found compostable paper plates at Walmart that are cheaper, and I’m thrilled about that.

I bought some recycled paper towels at the shopping outlet that were very affordable priced.

When I have the time, I read labels. I would try natural products first, when I can.

I will buy them usually if they cost the same. I won't pay more for them though especially when I don't know how they will do.

Anything that is mass produced probably has some additional additives and chemicals.

A lot of "natural" products really aren't natural. Have a good day.

Yes, I said that above. However, I have faith in stuff like paper products that say 100 percent recycled.

Most of the natural or organic products in market are costly. The only item that we can say is organic is when we buy directly from the farms. Those need to be trusted and mostly are organic and some of those costs less compared to market items. For the other items which are detergents and similar , natural as you rightly pointed out could be misleading. There have been few items such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste which some claim are natural but on closer look has artifical ingredients. You are lucky to get the natural detergent. Currently , I have not been lucky with other products. Hopefully we will have more organic products in market.

Yes, if you go to specialty stores there are quite a few available, the problem is they tend to be more expensive and sometimes don't work as well as mainstream items.
