I´m having breakfast while I change my recipe.

I usually make a tuna mousse with 2 small cans of tuna, mayo and plain yogurt and gelatine. It tastes perfect. This time I did the same but instead of tuna I added 3 small ripe avocados. If I didn´t use them some way, I´d have to throw them away in a couple of days. I´m not going to Dixie´s soon where I take all my ripe tomatos, avocados and fruit. We happily eat them all. But my avocado mousse was not as delicious as I wanted it to be. To begin with, I hadn´t thought that tuna in can has a lot of salt that fresh avocados don´t. So it lacked salt. And with the lack of salt, the taste of the yogurt showed too much. I did not like that either. So this morning I made a new mayo (I had eaten the last of the mayo I had yesterday) and added more mayo to the piece of mouse I served. Because, friends, my breakfast was toasted French bread, a piece of mousse, some mayo over it that would add more salt to the mousse and some olives on the side. I thought about my late husband. He would have loved my breakfast. He was very picky, but when he loved something, I would have to hide it from him. I made some Earl Grey tea to go with it. No coffee this time. And I brought it to my bedroom. The sun just hid so I´ll put my feet under the blankets. See you friends.

The only place we could buy those olives then were at the farmer´s market. I bought 2 packets of a quarter of a kilo. I hid one behind lots of jars in the fridge. Later on, I had to buy 3 packages as Claudia loved them too. But Claudia was more intelligent in finding them quickly.

@rakski When my children were small I always made rice with all I had left in the fridge and freezer the day before I went to the market. I called it a Somewhat Spanish rice.

Sorry your avocado mousse did not taste good to you I hate when that happens. I had maple and brown sugar oatmeal and coffee for breakfast today.

Its onlt problem was the lack of salt. I added more mayo and a couple of olives and it was delicious. The next time I make an avocado mousse I´ll just use mayo as my original recipe said.

You did well to resurrect your recipe. It was very cool here last night. I nearly had to hunt out my bedsocks.

I had to use my bedsocks 2 days ago. And then the climate turned into summer again.

@marguicha We're still waiting for our proper summer. It is bound to get much hotter than it is at the moment.

That sounds very good, but I understand that it needed salt.

In many dishes now I try to add more salt later knowing that salt is not healthy. But this was a sort of baby food before I added the rest of the salty ingredients.

It's nice that something as simple as your breakfast could make you think of your husband. I'm sure it made you smile knowing he would have loved your breakfast. I love when someone pops into my head and makes me think about them.

I think about my husband while doing a lot of everyday things. He was a wonderful person. Something as small as a song or a dish will bring back memories of him.

I only like Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchong teas. The rest taste like the ones my grandma gave me when my tummy hurt.

@marguicha Those are my two favorites as well. The Chinese restaurant we went to in Chicago (back in the day) served Lapsang Souchong.

changing recipe because you don't want to throw food away - sounds familiar. i do the same thing and nope - they don't always turn out the way i imagined, just like your avocado mousse. good thing is that we can always add salt or other spices hope you enjoyed your tea in the end. take care and see you around!

He was picky with food and I think that made me learn how to cook better. But I tricked him into eating some delicious things that he did not like by dicing them very tiny.
