Block, delete, unfriend

These are words I'm seeing so many of my friends and family members using.
How are we ever to be empathetic if we cancel our any conversations with those who feel differently. Bipartisan friendships are so rare now. It's genuinely sad!
We chose to deprive ourselves of growth through gaining knowledge and sharing knowledge. I don't mind who you voted for. I don't want anyone to feel like they can't have their thoughts and beliefs just because they're not the same.

There is nothing wrong with having a different belief system. That's what makes us human. We are all flawed. Blocking and deleting is needed sometimes. Humans don't always know how to express their feelings in a kind civil manner. They can take their opinions to toxic levels and for mental health you need to be willing to protect yourself from those who take their beliefs to toxic levels and use them to bring you down to their level.

There are times when a block/delete is needed for whatever reason. If you're chosing to just cut off everyone who doesn't believe in what you believe in is how we keep dividing the country.

@fivecandles I rarely block anyone. When I do it's because I don't need their toxic behavior affecting my own personal well-being. You can argue and disagree with someone without bringing them down to your level.

It is just that some of the opposing party are so extreme. It is hard to see why anyone would like them, or think they were suitable to be the President and VP.

Choosing between two bad options (technically 5 if we include all parties and write-in) seriously sucks.

That happened here when Pinochet took over. The people for Pinochet were victorious, loudly making fun of anyone they thought they did not think like them. And the others were terrified. Many people were tortured and then killed. Many people disappeared then. Some went on exile. I directed literary workshops then. Some people did not even know how to write their names, much less a poem or a story. But they were seeking a place where they could feel free to say what they wanted. All my writer friends did the same.

@fivecandles I love the US. Not THIS US. And all I wish for you is to turn the US into a purple country (blue and red).

Wow, that is intense. Here we are in America acting like we're not better off than a huge majority of the world.

It is a shame that we cannot accept viewpoints different from ourselves these days.

People have different opinions and beliefs; we must respect each other. Even if you hold a different opinion or belief, I still respect you. It should be that way. Hehe

I completely agree! My husband and I agree on most things politically but the things we don't agree on we can still say "well thats your belief and this is mine" and respect each other.

i guess that some people believe that you got nothing to learn from someone who thinks so differently.

Unfortunately , some are like that. It is ok to have a different thought ystem when it comes to politics , religion or even beliefs. However, the most important thing is we should cross the line .We should respect others beliefs as much as our. Again friend , unfriend or blocking - there are extreme cases - I blocked one because the person was provoking me for a long time and there was no other way to deal. There are other cases, where people do nto like to hear opposite opinions. It is better not to think much of their actions. Some people learn by observing and some by actions and in time. Enjoy your weekend!
