At the polls on Tuesday

When I went to vote Tuesday evening I was surprised to see a sheriff's officer there.
Figured we did not know what to expect so erring on the side of caution.
Another voter raised t he question of whether or not all polling places were being so staffed.
The deputy said no, none of them had legal presence more than a short time. He was scheduled to be at other voting sites as the evening wore on.
If you voted, were there officers present?

No, they don't like to drive out this far! They stick pretty close to the towns unless there is a compelling reason for them to be elsewhere.

We always have one present. Have for years. He usually looks extremely bored.

I voted but my state does mail in ballots. I checked: my vote was counted.

So far I haven't heard of any nasty incidents but I guess there were bound to be one or two somewhere in the country.
