No electricity

I believe we're under signal number 2 here in my province, yet there’s no rain, just the occasional strong gust of wind. Currently, we’re without electricity, and I can’t quite figure out why. Surprisingly, during the last strong typhoon, we didn’t experience any power outages. It seems odd that we’re facing one now when the weather is relatively calm. Maybe they’re doing some repairs or maybe there are other reasons behind it. Thankfully, I managed to cook lunch on my electric stove before the power went out.

I am sure that the power company is working on repairing the electrical power lines.

@freelancermariagrace In my case the power goes out due to either an auto accident wrecking a power grid or high winds.

It is routine here for load shedding but we have a Home UPS that takes care when power goes off

I understand. It used to be common here, but they have resolved the issue. Maybe there is a problem again with the grid.

I live in Florida, and power outages are very common. Sometimes we won't lose power during a storm and sometimes we will. Sometimes you never know. Power works on grids. Your house is attached to a grid. Damage could've occoured somewhere you can't see. Once it's safe to do so, your power company will work to repair the damage.

I understand. Do you have a generator at home? Thank you for explaining, Kayla. The power has now been restored.

Our power very occasionally goes out. Sometimes a vehicle hits a light pole and that's enough to stop the power till the technician repairs the line.

Usually, if it is calm outside, and my electricity goes out, it can be because a tree fell, too many people were using too much electricity, or some poor soul crashed into a transformer.

What is signal number 2?

Signal number 2 indicates minor to moderate gale-force winds, which pose a slight to moderate risk to property and life.
