All is good in the hood here

Today was a good day, I almost forgot I had a dr visit but I called yesterday to make sure when my next visit was & come to find out a day a head of time was told it was today. It was with my diabetes Dr, I had a GOOD report he was very pleased with how my sugar levels have been doing for the past 2 wks, I asked if it was possible for getting off the insulin & I was told no, cause that's what's keeping my sugar levels in check, so I guess it's going to be a life long thing as long as I keep in mind how to manage it. I think I've done pretty good so far with how I do my shots like I take it in the morns, B-4 I make my hot chocolate (My coffee) I don't eat breakfast & I normally just snack most the day till a few hrs. B-4 bedtime & eat to just kill the hunger during the night, But when I get back into the cabin, I will have a list of the foods I can & should eat so I don't just snack most the day, like I've been doing. But how I eat now is isn't all that good but it is keeping me from gaining weight, they weighed me today & I weigh 150 lbs which is right where I want & need to stay & be. here is the results from when I started with my sugar Dr. I got out of the hosp, on Sept 10th 2023 so there's that. Jan 26 2024 Bp 136/83 weight 164 temp 97.8 pulse 62 oxygen 97% May 2nd-2024 (1 yr after being home from the hosp) Bp 110/71 weight 157lbs temp 97.5 pulse 77 oxygen 97% Aug 15 2024 Bp 93.56 weight 152 pulse 70 oxygen 98% Nov 7 2024 Bp 99.59 weight 150 pulse66 oxygen 94% So with the info on how my health is doing I look to do a lot better when I get back in the cabin where I can make a food list I can stick to & stay on top of without having husband feel bad cause I can't eat what he does. I also need to figure out HOW to keep from eating at golden corral & fast food places every time we go out to pay bills & shopping like we do every 2-3 wks a mon. There's a million other people that have to live with diabetes, which really sucks rather it be pre or full 1 or 2 type either way we have to keep on top of it with the way we eat & exercise everyday are you 1 that have to watch your sugar levels & what you eat?

@rakski When I heard what all I went through I had a good talk with God & made a promise to put my health 1st, & that's what I have been doing from day 1 after I got out of the hosp. I got on the computer & started looking at what foods I need to avoid & everything I needed to do to regain my strength & health.

I keep an eye on my sugar and have been self-monitioring for years. My doctor tried to diagnose me with diabeties, knowing full-well the results would be squed. However, I refuse to accept it because I know they're looking for money. Nearly broke my phone when they tried to schedule me for a kidney fuction test and vision screening. Ignoring the fact I am already totally blind.

Yea they love your $ that's no lie, but I have tried a few times going without insulin & it spikes if I don't keep a good eye on it so I have no choice.

@2ndchances24 Yeah. I know. When you actually have diabeties it's a big deal. But taking tests when you know the results won't be right, is wrong.

@kaylachan Yea your right, cause when they told me I had T-2 I got on the computer & did a lot of researching on it & what I seen & heard about it I made my husband listen to it so he would take it as serious as I am on what I am looking at.

I avoid eating cereals with sugar and my sugar level is around the 110-120 range.

That sounds like a sweet spot to keep it at I keep mine around the 100 to130 mark. I have my monitor set to alarm me when it gets to the 130 mark which works for me to keep a eye on it if it spikes while I'm away from the house.

Your not alone, there's a lot of people who don't think about what they eat or how much they eat & when they get up in age it's too late to change it. That's what happened to me, my gallbladder failed & attacked my pancreas & almost killed me TWICE, they drained gals of poison from my pancreas & had to remove my gallbladder. I was in bad shape for 6 mons in ICU & 3 major hosps, they thought I was not going to make it but I'm a fighter & had god fighting with me.

it seems like you're making a good progress compared to the previous results, good job i try to be careful when it comes to food i consume. i think having boundaries is the most important thing. resisting fast food places can be challenging, but i'm sure you can do it. good luck!

@2ndchances24 i prefer making food at home and eating healthy - but sometimes i can't resist. i want those "fake" fries it's important not to do it too often i guess.

@aureategloom If it was JUST me, I wouldn't be eating at the fast food places & just eat at home, that would save me a lot of time & $ but you know how that goes right ?

Thank You, I've been working on getting this figured out (fast food places can be challenging) not if you either take something with you while your out away from the house or eat something to hold you till you get back home. That's the best way to stay on top of keeping your levels from bouncing all over the place, that's not good either.

Was told I was Pre-Diabetes in 2018,,,been on Metformin 500mg ever since. When I went to the doctor Tues. she didn't want to give me a z-pack due to my diabetes. She said it would raise my BS. I told her that I have had the z-pack a few times and believe it or not...my blood sugar goes down taking it. Today was day 2...My BS Tues. was 114, Wed. 119 (started taking the z-pack..Thur 109. The last time I took the z-pack my BS went down to 89. Anyway, Wed and Thursday I snacked most of the day and only ate a one sausage dog. We will see tomorrow as I snacked today, and had piece of lemon cake, and at sausage mixed with cabbage and egg noodles with alfredo sauce and onions. Oh..and garlic bread. I have lost 7 lbs according to the scales Tues. Diabetes is so hard to figure out. I can eat whatever and have a test of under 110...the next day I can have hardly No carbs and my BS is over 120. Just weird.

Yep, that sounds about right, mine does the same thing I can go all day with just my drinks (ice sparkle) no sugar & go & pay bills as well as do all my shopping & come home My sugar will bounce all over the place, but when I stay home it stays pretty level, unless I eat THEN it gets crazy, so I've learned to check it B-4 I eat & if it's lower than 100 (65-95) I'll take my long acting insulin & if it's over 150 I'll take my fast acting, I've learned how this works with me, sometimes I don't take it everyday.

Your so right ",it's hard with foods, what to eat and it sucks not eating what you like." I eat whatever I want, but I have to be cautious about how much I eat, like I can't be eating 5 slices of bread or 5 biscuits covered with white gravy that right there is a over dose of starch & carbs & calories in other words a BIG NO-NO ! ! !
