who remembers me?

It is almost 5 years since i was on this platform. i was just from the university, too stressed, looking for jobs with no experience and nothing was working. i got this platform, and besides the little incentives it used to offer while contributing to interesting topics and building communities, i developed a very wonderful team besides me who, on a daily basis would support my job search and encourage me to surge on. It has been a long time, and i cant remember any person from then...i will have to get back to my posts and pick a couple of them to check how they are doing. i am glad after a long time, things started moving, albeit slowly. starting with unpaid internships, went to another organization where i was promised to be paid, and worked for 8 months with no pay until COVID 19 struck in 2020 and got laid off in january 2020. I then got into consultancy. I had met an engineer who was working on a borehole drilling project and had wanted someone to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment. Unfortunately, after conducting the EIA project, wrote the report and submitted, the project proponent took the license before i got paid. In this one too, i got duped!! It was a huge hell of trials trying to get ground. After several trials, with applications, the doors opened and got employed with a government agency as a research scientist. it has been a real journey. Thanks so much for this wonderful community. How has your journey been?? Right from the university, how did you walk your way to where you are??. i stayed 3.8 years before getting a steady job in kenya...what about you??

@Basilo the worst part about it is that nobody prepares you for that period

@aureategloom True, we always have a lot of expectation the moment we are out from school.

I do not think I remember you. I worked as a college professor and child psychologist until Covid hit. Now I am focusing on teaching music.

Great to read after all these struggles , you have ended up as a research scientist. Not every one can be a research scientist in a government agency. I can understand the pain you went through in your journey. My journey has been different - I have not achieved the success I love to have although I started working immediately after college. Professionally , yet to reach a position that would be fulfilling as well as interesting. Currently have a debt more than double of what I get in hand in a year .So working on to clear the debts. Between I have been in mylot only for 6 months and so welcome you back to mylot

Hello Anish nice reading your response. It was really a hard task. I know you are managing to clear your debts. It is the best thing to do so you can begin from an open slate, and i know with all the efforts you will get your desired position
