Secret Santa gives a huge check to a female battling leukemia

Rachael who is a resident of East Idaho is currently battling leukemia is grateful that East Idaho news reporter Neal Eaton heard about the needs of Rachael who is currently having treatment in East Idaho came to her home on Saturday to present Rachael a check for $5,000 dollars, grocery store gift cards for $2,500, $1,500 dollars to purchase a washer and dryer and $1,000 dollars for clothes.
It is hopeful that Rachael will be able to beat her illness soon. It is a nice gesture of the Secret Santa making a donation to someone who need his help.

This is a nice story! I think I would say "a woman" rather than "a female". It sounds better. If you say "a female". it sounds like you are talking about an animal or a bug, or something.
