How to overcome sudden sadness?

Most of my days vacillate between joy and melancholy. However today I am helplessly caught up in feelings of desolation and despair.
I couldn't sleep well yesterday and I don't really know the reason.
Nothing happened in between; nobody reprimanded me or hurt me. Trivial things are triggering deeper despair and slowly I am plummeting into an ocean of nostalgic sorrow.
I am embracing this subtle sadness reminding myself that this too shall pass.
I am doing what is necessary. Writing helps me overcome situations where clarity is lost and I start viewing the world through a foggy glass. So here I am in mylot with this tirade.
Do you ever feel sad without any clear reason? What would be your advice?

@Dreamerby Yes. Medication makes me sleep a lot. Homeopathic medicine can help too.

You take sleeping pills right? I too took a homeopathic medicine to sleep last night.

I hope I will sail through this. Maybe watching some good movie will help-that's what I thought at noon. But it didn't.

Yeah I did. I mentioned that in another post of mine. The psychiatrist was weird and didn't work out for me. Though his meds helped for some time until when it did not.

i feel like that when i'm touched about something or if something reminds me of better and younger days and when i'm actually sad and defeated. this dance/song does it to me, touches me. i like that victorious feeling, which i want to have. you are right for embracing your feelings, better than taking everything inside.
and yes, i've been to lord of the dance concert. precisely 10 years ago.

@Dreamerby i guess you didn't open the video. it is irish step dance troupe. Michael Flately is the founder of this, let's say cause, irish step dance existed before but he named it the lord of the dance and we can thank him for making this dance popular.

Sometimes what you need is to take care of your body so it will take care of your mind and your feelings. Maybe a nap and a healthy snack. Perhaps you should spend time outdoors moving around. Singing and music often help reset melancholy moods. Or just let it happen and then let it leave when your are done being sad. I know, too much advice. Much of it I should take myself.

Yeah listening to happy songs help. I watched a comedy show and spent some time with mom. It helped me big time.

Sometimes the easiest thing you can do is the most effective. Change what you are thinking about.

I think you should see a doctor. Depression can be treated. Good luck.

i usually understand the reason behind my sadness so that helps me to deal with it, but there are some days that are just...off.
i hope you find a way to feel better - maybe talk to a friend? or watch comedy?
take care
