I dont think food value of a vegetable can be replaced by a supplement

November 11, 2024 5:35am CST
Vegetables in India have different food value. Spinach has a lot of vitamins. Bittergourd are very good for people with diabetes. I dont think any supplement in the form of tablets can reproduce the food value of the vegetable. Many people in India dont have the habit of buying the vegetable and cooking and try to replace them by short cut method of eating tablets. Whatever may be the value there are side effects of the supplements as well.

I agree but if you are short of a certain vitamin, you would have to eat a lot of whatever food to replace the value of one tablet.

thanks Judy eating vegetables is a habit It is like in Calcutta there are many types of spinach like palak pui kolmi note etc. Now if a person eats spinach curry at least 3 days a week it is healthy to have the vitamins

Food supplements can never replace fresh vegetables. Some people have strange ideas.

@sathviksouvik Those who are over stressed in the office like my sons have to depend on food outlets sometimes.

Food value - I agree! I have been seeing a lot about vitamin deficiencies . . . one can take supplements, but if you also do not have other nutrients in your system, your body apparently cannot absorb what is in these supplements. It's better to get nutrients/vitamins from real food sources - it tastes better too!
